Bullying & condescending ? Yeah right. I've seen him play and my opinion is he'll have a good non league career. I hope I'm wrong and you are right, but I see nothing in his stats to say he's going to.

If he proves me wrong, I'll be the first to admit it and will be delighted for him (and us if that's at vp).

 

Whether Pointon turns out to be an ace or rubbish matters not if he can't get on the pitch in that match tonight, he could have replaced anyone, except the goalie.
Absolutely crying out for him and Wilson to come on, my god what was there to lose.

 

Absolutely nothing ! GA's comments tonight are bizarre. Worrying times all round. I could see him gone by the end of the season, most probably sacked by trigger happy Sparks.

 

GA clearly doesn’t rate the lad and you have to accept that!

There is a valid argument about whether Pointon has the ability or is ready to be a player that helps us towards where we want to be. He's certainly shown flashes of quality but also disappointed on occasions such as away at Colchester - of course that's to be expected with a young player.

Putting that to one side, Pointon's omission highlights the complete lack of a plan when it comes to the footballing side of things. We've heard the sustainability line, but if that really is the case then surely there is some onus on developing a path from the youth team to the first team. The potential that Pointon had shown and fan excitement surrounding him was surely raised with Alexander during interviews.

Pointon isn't the only example of bizarre management of young players over recent years. Reece Staunton rewarded with a four year contract only to be sold to Park Avenue halfway through. Kian Scales given a two year deal, only to play two league games before being released at the end of that contract. Finn Cousin-Dawson awarded a three year contract only to spend most of that time at Blyth. We can expect his release in the summer.

Fair enough, ultimately these players might not be good enough. But the club valued them highly enough to reward them with good contracts only to completely abandon them in amongst multiple changes of approach led by Sparks. Pointon appears destined to become the latest that is lost due to the impact of a football club having no footballing philosophy.

 

GA is a fool, in all his time has he not grasped what it can do to motivate the fans to get behind their team by seeing one of their own out there, and have the opposite effect by bombing the player out of the team.

you need all the friends you can get right now Alexander, time to engage that tiny little mind and stop being a muppet.

 

The club is gambling on someone from a higher division coming in and buying with clauses. All part of the sustainability plan.

I guess you dont bite the hand that feeds you im guessing he has bills to pay, seem to recall he was playing a political game in Jan around the Luke Young situation while the bids situation played out.

Alexander seems a bit of a wet lettuce tbh.

 

Non of us see Bobby Pointon train on a daily basis. So do not know if he is showing he is worth selction, although on this past week, if that is the case, he must have been dreadful to not get any minutes at all.
The lad does look to have a bit of something about him.
I wonder if said interest from last summer has re-emerged and the lad is on his way, club cashing in to help cover any shortfall, could also see Young going in the summer. Got to balance those books.

Maybe even higher than that. I know Liverpool were full of praise for him when we played them. I think Bobby ran the show that night.

Could it be Bobby’s last match for City? I hope not. Surely the chance of getting his hometown club promoted next season is too tempting for him but will City want to cash in while they can?
