Carlisle will likely be offering him a big pay rise. They've just been taken over by wealthy Americans so they'll likely spend big in this window and I would say they;ll probably stay up too.

Lewis is replaceable really and if we can get a decent keeper in cheap and reinvest any money in other areas, fine with me.

There's always an abundance of good keepers about, there's hardly any spaces for first team keepers so we should have a good pick.

 

As long as the fee is enough to replace him AND strengthen elsewhere then I'm fairly relaxed about Lewis moving on.

I thought he was outstanding last year but even then he made mistakes and this year he's been seemingly even more susceptible to a ricket or two.

I certainly wouldn't be forcing him out of the door but likewise, if the offer is good then I don't see an issue with struggling to replace him.

 

I think Gent's done fine. After all he spotted Young. I don't see him doing a worse job than anyone else. We've moaned about every scout since our Premiership days.

Expectations are way too high, with everyone remembering the ones that don't work out and defining the scout by them. But you're only going to get about three gems out of every ten, plus four mediocre ones and three poor ones. I can't think of many football clubs at or above the standard of trying to get out of L2 - who do any better. For instance look what a pup Stockport have bought with Nick Powell.

Kelly, Richards and Wilson are three youngsters with potential to do better. We've seen that, certainly from Richards. But Gent can't influence the managers to play them.

 

I believe Gent saw him playing for Southampton U23 at Newcastle and when mentioned to Hughes he recalled him from his time at Southampton.

I suspect we're focusing on the ones that haven't worked out because there are not many that have.

 

Shows how far we have plummeted, when we are selling a good player to Carlisle. Probably end up with a GK loan from PL as replacement.

 

Or we might get the next England goalkeeper. Life is like a box of chocolates with loans. Some work, most don’t.

One of our better players and a decent age steps up a league and we stay behind waving through the window as per usual! Probably the worst club in the league above too and yet still more appealing than us.

I don't see the sense in selling your main keeper midway through the season unless it's a big offer or you are skint.

 

One may say this, if accurate, has turned out like Young to be very very profitable as both came on a free.

The two year deals with one year extensions haven’t turned out all that bad in the end. Clear they force decent fees to be paid. win, win.

Based on Harry’s stats this season I’m amazed any club above us in this or any other league would be interested in him. He was great last season on and off the field but he does n’t give any impression he’s going to get that form back. Will he get that confidence back? Probably why he wants a new start. I’m not surprised we’d sell if possible,

 

so we have zero ambition in getting out of this league, just sell all your best players, make a fat profit, don't reinvest in players and say "you should be lucky you still have a club"

Conned again, no season ticket renewal for me i'm afraid.. unless we get out of this league somehow..

Goalkeepers are very rarely sold at this level so not a lot to compare the value with but even without that goalkeepers are often valued lower so we were never going to get a massive fee for him. He's been average at best this season so for all we know last season was the best he is ever going to play so we might as well cash in on him now before his value drops even more. Nobody really know what went on in the summer and whether it was that or the poor performance in the play offs he's not been the same as he was last season.

 

True. But he's got a much better chance of playing in L1 next season with them than us. And he'll get a wage bump too. It's hard to make a case than any Player should turn down L1 to stay here.

 

He's got next to zero chance of playing league one with Carlisle next season
