To sell our first team goalkeeper in his 20s and replace him with a journeyman in his 30s who has spent the bulk of his playing appearances at Colchester is nothing short of a disgrace.

All this shows is that we are completely devoid of any ambition to progress up the EFL and that we will sell any player for a bit of cash. We've effectively become a feeder club to the likes of Swindon and Carlisle whilst we fanny about in League Two year on year.

While clubs such as Carlisle are picking out specific targets, Bradford City are literally signing either whoever is being flogged to us unwanted by their clubs, been on the injury table for a quantity of time during their careers, has-beens, or who played alright in a Pizza cup game against us.

The fact Harry Lewis sees Carlisle as a more attractive and forward proposition than us is horrifying and says a lot about the state of our club at the moment.

The second top scorer in the league even sees Swindon as a more attractive place to play than us. Trains 5 minutes and doesn't want anything to do with us.

Even Cowley took a dig at us by saying he was impressed by Colchester's strategies and ambitions. Took one look at us/Sparks and ran a mile.

We have no strategy, no direction, and we are effectively run by hamsters in a wheel.

This once proud club is an absolute pathetic joke

Again you don't get it. We aren't asking for the bloody moon on a stick, just an owner who genuinely wants to see us push this club to the next level. I'm personally not ever thinking an Arab sheikh is gonna turn up and take us to the champions League, heck I'd even be behind Rupp if I thought he had an ounce of ambition. At the moment I'd settle for an owner who just actually spoke to our new manager before we'd signed him, it really isn't a lot to ask

You haven't grasped this yet have you? Don't you understand that once a club takes on some debt to help it grow and develop like any other company in the real world, it automatically results in the club going into Administration or worse? It only becomes a matter of time before the shutters are brought down at VP and our club goes the way of Bury. Fans like you who want to see their club bring in better quality players and progress to the next level are being reckless and unreasonable. They are intent on placing our club on the road to perdition.

Don't you appreciate that Admin 3 is just around the corner? Only the likes of Park and those who share his view can save us from a penniless future in the national league!

Basically, the club have given up on this season.

Cashing in and building for next or saving for Rupp.

People say selling him could be good business but the fact remains a club higher wants him. Wouldn’t be fuss about this sale if I trusted Rupp and Sparks but I don’t.

The season is done that I can see but I hope I am wrong.

Shows how far we have plummeted, when we are selling a good player to Carlisle. Probably end up with a GK loan from PL as replacement.

Don't worry, he is a far better keeper than Holy.

Lewis was a surprise plus for us last season.

Nobody had heard of him as he was 3rd or 4th choice at Southampton when we signed him. I think Mark Hughes vaguely remembered him from his time there.

We certainly didn't expect him to be instantly installed as number 1 here, he was and he excelled early doors and became a firm favourite with the fans.

He quickly established himself as one of the leagues top keepers second to only Vigoroux in many peoples opinion.

He bonded with the fans and community in general and comes across as a very nice man overall.

In his words, he took the playoff defeat as bad as any fan and disappeared from social media for a while.

We then had an offer from Barnsley for him in pre season, which we rejected, and this seemed to affect him mentally and in my opinion he never seems to have recovered from.

His form this season has been distinctively average. Some glaring errors that lead to goals early in the season. He did pull himself around but still not a patch on last season.

I hope you get last season's version.

He literally doesn't get it Roger. And he's entitled to his opinion as we all are, but anyone who doesn't grasp what a mess this club is in, and how lacking in leadership capability and ambition we are, will never see it.

Example, when season tickets go on sale in a few weeks, and the club has no option but to freeze prices because the 'product' is so poor, Park will celebrate the value of the ST and praise the club for freezing prices. The reality will be that with inflation and increases in other clubs investors putting money in, a price freeze is actually a relative reduction in income that matches the decline in our performance. Slow decline and regression.

I know the majority realise it, but without change at the top, we're going nowhere but backwards.

When Lewis goes, so be it. Be a shame, however there's better keepers out there within our budget ( whether we've the gumption to identify one is another matter).
We've not had Young for over 12months, what you've never had you don't miss, despite the fact I'd love to keep him, when he goes he goes.
Now if Pointon goes I'll be really pissed with the club. Nutured over the next couple of years ( get him under a decent contract), there's a player there vastly superior to Young and Lewis.

I admire their owners, being proactive and looking toward the future. Meanwhile, we have the equivalent of Lord Lucan....

Well put it this way round - if both players are sold and we dilly dally for replacements like we always have done, and end up getting bummed at Colchester and Swindon, I for one will be calling time on my attendances, and I certainly won’t be on my own in doing so. Never thought I’d be saying this, but something has got to give. We are in a very sad state of affairs lately

Doyle is a coach, if we bring in a keeper and he suffers an injury in February, that's Colin Doyle playing week in, week out with Heath Richardson as back up.

    No thanks.

Border, it doesn't work that way at City - there's always something happening that could alienate the fans and with total justification, but the next decent result gets us onside again, we stay with them, we buy season tickets and we live in hope that something good might happen.

We are basically gullible suckers who have no bloody choice, City is OUR club through thick and thin, and thin, and thin (repeat). But as I said in another post I don't really believe anything that comes out of our club anymore - our upper management is on the whole a shambles without vision or ambition

Carlisle are shit. I still dont understand why the yanks invested there.

its a league up but not for long. Theyre a club going nowhere.

i guess him and Young will get higher wages for a few years.

Doesnt say much for their scouts if theyve lodged a bid. He’s been average at best this year. That mistake at Donny was very frustrating, and he’s done far worse - head’s not been right since Barnsley came in for him.

i wish both players well if they tie up their moves, but I find it thoroughly depressing they have done a double ‘Wyke’ on us - shows how badly run this club is at the top under Rupp and how we continue to fester like a mammoth turd in the bowl.

Alexander won’t see a penny of either fee - gobbled straight up by the sustainability bullshit budget. :-(

We will most likely bring in a couple of loans to see us over and ‘go for it’ next season. Then if there’s a drop in season ticket sales between that and Hughes will be a nice excuse not to spend a penny of it. I’ll never be happy to see a talent go, but some treat a transfer like the money is going into their pockets. It’s not it’s going into a millionaire’s pocket.

It really does baffle me. Carlisle is a nice part of the world and there is some stunning scenery on the drive up. But as a footballing investment I fail to see what they have to offer. Limited fanbase, limited scope to expand, old ground. Good League 2 squad but poor League 1 squad. A respected manager.

They’ll do very well to stay in L1 let alone get promoted next season or whenever.

Gillingham, similarly, don’t have much more scope to grow, yet even they’ve attracted American investment.

I can only conclude it is the Manningham factor that is scaring off investment.

Manningham was supposed to mean ‘business’. Dunno what it actually means in reality!

yes, I am bitter and jealous…..we are going nowhere under Rupp

Every single person on this site should read this twice if you have too. So despite increases in ticket sales, merchandise, and commercial activity our budget is still the same going back to 2019. It is no wonder that we cannot buy quality and they are trying to fool us by quantity.

My take, its not so much about the transfer why people are so angry its about the lack of ambition !

Constructive talk about lack of ambition can be justified but when someone who describes himself as a theatre director posts on Twitter that Sparks is just a fat C**t is out of the school playground. I don’t understand the mentality of someone who will post that.

I think many are missing the point, GA did n’t think Harry was good enough and why would he? He has been one of the worst performing L2 keepers this season. He would have been on the bench if we had a backup. Carlisle are hoping a restart will bring his last season’s form back. I hope it does but I would n’t bet on it. He’s done nothing this season to warrant a transfer fee. I think we may have seen the best of Harry. I’d expect GA to bring in another keeper probably in the summer.
Harry’s a lovely guy and a great team mate. I wish him all the best and genuinely hope he finds his confidence but to turn down a bid on the back of this season’s form would have been madness.
