I've defended him this season, but has he been significantly better than the average L2 keeper. Probably. But the point is he is replaceable, based on this seasons form.

 

Lets see what the fee is and who is replacing him before we throw our toys out of the pram.

Ok, he said 'up the fookin chickens' a few times in interviews and on twitter, so obviously scores lad points amongst the younger fans but lets be honest, mistake ridden this season. He has been very poor and without last season we would be calling for him to be dropped/replaced.

 

We seem to have a significant number of the fan base, that don't see that buying and selling players is the first part of the journey to improving the fortunes of a football club.

i.e. Exeter. Numerous bids turned down for Watkins. Finally got the one they wanted off Brentford and it's basically made them at least half a division better.

Or Peterborough. Seven bids turned down for Toney (again from Brentford). Eighth accepted. Fry has has admitted that they will make more than 10% when he moves on and jokes about phoning Brentford every day. That's on top of the fee they received.

Further evidence to our fans naivety is that, remember that's the Ivan Toney, that lots of fans said wasn't good enough for us a few years ago!!

If we can get the buying and selling correct and the chairman plays fair, i.e. 75% goes to the manager, then we will inevitably get where we want to.

Would be a bolt from the blue if it happens, but good luck to him if true. Seems a bit to a crap move for him when Barnsley was on the table in the summer though, they’re most likely on their way back down and it’s in the arse end of nowhere.

No it doesn't. It just means it's undisclosed.

In a previous Premiership season just 5 of the 115 permanent transfers (not counting free transfers) were disclosed with any official figure.

Could be that Carlisle, will not want their fans knowing the figure, because it puts pressure on the player etc.

 

He was never happy with Hughes going. Although I'd be amazed if he went their.

 

Why would you be amazed that a professional footballer moves to a club in a higher division and in all probability on more wages than we are paying him ?

 

99.99% of transfers worldwide are undisclosed, not sure why some think it's special to our club. It could mean that the buying club don't want to say how much they paid or the selling club don't want to tell other clubs how much they have to spend when looking at other players.

 

I have no problem with selling players for fees. My concern is the ability of the club to reinvest that money into a similarly potentially valuable asset.

Let's not forget, Harry wasn't some gem that Gent unearthed. He was a Hughes choice and signing.

 

All I can say, is I am amazed at the breath of foresight and football acumen on this site. Apparently undisclosed fee doesn’t mean anything anyone suggests.I thought it meant that the club doesn’t want you to know for all kinds of reasons.

That's what he said - Hughes remembered him from Stoke and brought him to City. If I've totally made it up then I'm sorry but my memory is usually pretty good!

 

Well my memory is non existent these days I will take that as read then, thank you. Explains a lot tbh.

 

Because he could get a better move at the end of this season to a far better club as he'll have less time on his contract, i.e. just the years option. He's not getting dropped by us. And he's been better in the last two months as he's a very good L2 player when he's 'on it'.

As Flynn says Young will be attractive to top end L1 and perhaps Championship (you could see Swansea liking his flair). The same thing applies to Lewis, who has more of a case to be attracting these types of clubs.

That's correct. Hughes had him as youngster at Southampton. Although I believe Gent spotted him as well.
