I'm going to Poland in about two weeks time for Christmas, I've been there numerous times. And when I'm in those beautiful mountains in Zakopane not once will I look and think how I wish it was more diverse here. Poland and Hungary do what their people wish, in the future a lot will see the reasons they do what they do has merit.

Behave. A lot of folk rocking up to Calais have come from African countries with links dating back to French connections but they don't stay in France. The way this country is portrayed in certain sections of the media i'm surprised migrants want to come here at all anyway, apparently a racist ridden hellhole for these poor poor souls. Lets not kid ourselves, they come here for the money, nothing else. Most i speak to, and in my line of work and background i can guarantee its more than you, they would pretty much all rather by living back in their country of birth, they come here for economic reasons.

I don't know why you don't get it. It looks really simple to me.

People like and appreciate legal migrants who come to participate and enhance our society.

People dislike people who circumvent or bend rules to diminish the fabric of our society and want to deter that happening.

Both things can be true at the same time. Its only people who want to bring the debate down to base levels (the gammon hate immigrants) who want to muddy the waters.

Visited Zakopane in September this year, a stunning place. I know it is a winter resort primarily, but was beautiful walking around and relaxing with a beer in the warm sunshine there.

    Fantastic people too

What an interesting way of viewing things.

By that token I guess that you don't think drink driving or tax evasion is an issue since the people who undertake these things are a small percentage of the whole?

Always found Poland to be very welcoming, things like airports and infrastructure put some of ours to shame.People very friendly and unsurprisingly very patriotic toward their country and beliefs. Can't wait for the Krakow Christmas market, and i'm guessing no one protesting outside the local MacDonalds

I know you like to blame the government for everything but the issues within the legal system are not completely within their control. They are constrained by the international law definition of an asylum seeker and legacy legislation that is designed to give the benefit of the doubt to the applicant.

And guess what happens whenever the government tries to change these things........the Guardian reading section of society throw their arms in the air and the weak government give it up. Example #1584 of why nothing ever sodding changes in this country.

I've spent time in both, and would completely reject the idea that they're highly racist. They're proud and defensive of their own culture and it being eroded, which to my mind is perfectly natural and understandable. Most countries are the same, and it only seems to be an issue for those who seem to be, to quote a Guy Ritchie film, 'drowning in their liberal white guilt'.

I also can't understand who some can't grasp the simple concept that controlled immigration is beneficial all around the world but having an open border policy is not? But hey lets just throw out the old 'racism' curve ball. Or a hate crime, gotta be an arrestable offence there somewhere?

Tell that to the black Ukrainians fleeing Russian violence who were turned away at the border while their white compatriots were waved through.

It would seem madness to others too. But then you're a gammon racist or summat.

I absolutely do get it. I understand that people don’t want freeloaders here, especially if they are criminals. That’s perfectly reasonable.

But I think your statement that “People like and appreciate legal migrants who come to participate and enhance our society” is naive and in many cases untrue. I think many of the people who rant on about the boat people don’t like the legal migrants either, and deeply wish they weren’t here, even though they are doing valuable jobs that Brits don’t want to do. But they don’t feel they can say that, so the boat people become the figurehead for their anger that (mostly black) foreigners are coming here in numbers and distorting what they see as the correct makeup of our population.
So we end up with all this frenzy over the relatively small number of boat people, and crackpot schemes like flying them to Rwanda, because it’s easier than doing something about the labour shortages that bring the much larger numbers of legal migrants here.

I think that's a fair point. I think much of it comes down to culture. There are many varying cultures across the world, and to my mind its human nature to have greater and lesser affinity for certain cultural norms and behaviours. I love to travel and experience different things - many don't - but in any event, its not 'wrong' to be fearful of, or against, having different cultural behaviours foisted onto your own local and national community. There needs to be a sensible conversation about this stuff. To my mind, that's the crux of multiculturalism. Having tolerance for preferences, without that being disrespectul or hateful, defining where the 'boundaries' for different cultures should be drawn, what values that bind our country need to be protected etc. What multiculturalism isn't, is just crashing it all together without control, and decrying anyone who voices concern as racist.

Mass immigration is also a neat little way for many businesses to keep labour costs low, which is why big businesses appear to be liberal about the topic.

I've always said if we need people to do jobs our own people of a working age won't do for whatever reason they should be allowed to come and work, I've been consistant on that point even during the referendum, the boat people and the other illegals are a different issue.
I'm sure the Labour party will have plans in their manifesto to deal with these illegals and return the people who don't have a right to remain here back.
With regards the ECHR many of the things that body makes judgements on were implemented by the UK, but as long as we remain under their jurisdiction we are restricted to things that were promised before the referendum, which I find quite amusing as during the build up to the vote everything was based on how poorly the outlook would be , where a with regards immigration and taking our borders back it couldn't happen as long as we were under the jurisdiction of the ECHR.

There is no such thing as a sensible conversation when it comes to immigration, the debate ends up being taken over by idiotic flag waankers who look like Grant Mitchell or the stupid loony left halfwits like Owen Jones. Its quite simple, there is a need in the world for migration, has been for centuries. But open door policies like we see in Europe will only end up going one way.
