I just want to say something about Ash Taylor. It’s his birthday today and the club posted happy birthday celebrations on Twitter as normal. The thread is disgusting so called city fans dishing out insults by the bucket load. Ash Taylor is a human being with family and friends just like the rest of us. I will be honest I have not seen him live. I can’t remember which match he played in, but I know he has been injured ever since. Could he have been playing whilst injured? Would that not affect his abilities? The rest of team were poor as well in the first few games. Football is a team game, and if the whole team are struggling it affects all of them. The player who takes on responsibility is going to be seen as very poor as others hide. Not saying any of this applies, but it is worthy of some discussion. Maybe he is a player well past his best, but he was offered a contract, we need to look elsewhere in the recruitment process if he isn’t good enough.

 

I think - and hope - he'll go to a back 4 too. I can't fathom why he changed system in the first place. But even then, its likely we'll play several games where one or both of Platt and Stubbs are out. Would a centre back pairing with any 2 from Kelly, Odusina and Taylor give you confidence? It wouldn't for me.

He played preseason whilst unfit…..It’s fair to say every club in the land has bar stewards in their ranks. Sadly it appears we are top , or is it bottom, of the pile.

 

I think it’s because many within and outside football , inc me think it’s the best formation , providing one has the personnel to play it. He gave it a shot, it hasn’t worked .

I want to see us going back to the 4. minus Ridehalgh, I just don’t think he cuts it anymore but including Halliday.

 

Not many top teams play a back 3 any more. It requires a huge amount of tactical awareness that you generally don't get in the lower league's. I've seen maybe one or two teams in League 2 do it well over the years. 4 at the back every time for me.

Every team that went up automatically and the two teams they went to the play off final all played with 3 at the back and wing backs. I think Hughes has just tried to copy what worked for every successful side last season but he doesn't have the right people to play it.

Which tbf is up to him and his team to get those players in. But we never found a LWB or a good partner for Cook. Think with 3 wingers joining this week it's a matter of time until we got 4231 again, otherwise what's the point in this weeks business?
