Signed Odour on the basis that he plays LWB, just for the man himself to come out an say he doesn't play there. So we piss about at the start of the season before finally getting the lad from Wolves in

Signing Taylor who's been dogshit. Insisting with a back 3 an alienating the one CB we have who actually has a bit of pace. And now we're hearing that our Best CB might be off to Barnsley (An btw, Stubbs is a capable LG1 CB. Exeter fans loved him, they just couldn't rely on him because he was injury prone, thats why they let him go)

Not signing a back up to Cook (Smith doesn't count, their different players)

Signing a bunch of wingers when we don't even play with a system that suits them

Its just been a shambles. A lot of money has been pissed away this window, an if Hughes can't get a tune out of this bloated team by now, he's gonna have some difficult questions to answer in a months time

 

Completely agree. It feels like Hughes is going with “throw enough shit at the wall and it will eventually stick” strategy.
Sparks once again talking out of his backside in the summer when he said the squad would be leaner and now we just seem to be massively heavy in certain positions and light in others.
No one has a clue what system he is going to go with and to me it’s looking like he’s decided to bin the 3/5 at the back with just a few days to get players in to suit his new plan of clearly wanting wingers.

City reported target Jon Tomkinson played in a back three at Stevenage.

Have spoken to Neil Metcalfe, from our sister paper the Comet, about him.

"He came with a big reputation but signed when Stevenage were in awful form and was in and out the side.

"He looks like he's got all the ability in the world. It was just wrong time, wrong place for him at Stevenage which was unfortunate.

"He's tall and quite athletic. He's got pace and seems to have a decent reading of the game as well."

 

If this is right about Tomkinson then it makes a lot more sense and he looks like what we need
