And 20,000 fans worried we were going to the wall. I remember reading all about it on ceefax. Saw the list of players we had to release.

Can only see us getting a young loan striker to cover. Would prefer to just use Youmbi until Oliver is fit but think the club would rather have someone who might have a bit of gametine already under his belt.

 

Im not even sure they are panic. Sounds like we have a little list of targets and will take who is available.

Id like a CB and Odusina going out. Im not overly convinced for a CF now. Oliver wont be too far off anyway.

 

Why give Youmbi a deal if we are just going to replace with a youth loan from above.

Agree with you, but its what we end up doing. We always give a few pro deals every season to graduating 18 year olds, but they rarely get a chance so nobody knows what's actually in there. Recent years thinking of Sikora, Scales, Goldthorp, Wood all had random spots on benches or the odd first team minutes after signing their pro deals but it never felt like they were actual first teamers. Just seems to be a thing we do.

 

Talking about Scales a friend of mine went to see the Scunthorpe Scarborough game on Monday Scunthorpe won 4 1 they had Jacob Butterfield and Scales in their line up my mate has followed this level for a long time and he said Scales performance was as good as he had ever seen from a player at that level

 

i liked scales, thought he had a bit of something and apparently was one of the fittest guys in the squad and i dont mean i fancied him

 

True but this year it was specifically said that Rowe, Pointon and Youmbi wernt here for numbers but would be used.

The race to a measly 5 goals is on and you predicted not one would reach that target.

 

Hopefully it's the case and we start using these graduates rather than the usual of them sitting in the stands, short loan to somewhere like Brighouse then a release. Devine and FCD are the only ones I can think of over the last 10 years or so who got a lengthy run? Staunton got 5 or 6 games from memory.

But i hope its not another Hughes fib, he's said a few just this summer alone.

 

Very few of us mortals have the assets or income to borrow even £500.000 let alone £5 million and certainly not on the gamble that is football. It amazes me that people want to invest in the game with possibly no return and also how many fans expect the club owners to throw their own money at it.

 

A lot of young players need toughening up a spell in the national league is a good grounding
