If he signs, wonder whether a swap for Odusina back to Hartlepool?

Looks like Gordon may be off to Cambridge according to Alan Nixon although he was on the bench again tonight

    Random.

Lad is much younger even than Youmbi and Pointon.

Proactively signing players for the youth team to actually develop would be a decent step forward, though.

We usually just let them all leave, and fill the team with whatever's left, don't we?

Someone else has been going on about this on twitter.

As far as I can see its based on him starting to follow City on Instagram or something. He's only a young lad - 17.

Hold that thought - Pointon is getting the plaudits from last night.

If he continues to take his chances when they are presented he won't be going anywhere.

Fingers crossed! If he was to go anywhere, I cant see it until at the earliest the back end of October once Chapman is getting back to match sharpness. Plenty of time to try and win a spot on the bus every match. Knowing Hughes, he wont even be on the bench on saturday.

Nixons track record is usually 50/50 at best but this summer he seems to be woeful. Worst thing about his method is you need to pay money to subscribe to get his "scoops" that just get leaked out within minutes anyway, but are wide of the mark pretty often.

Saw on another forum from a Palace guy who said Olise signed his new deal hours before the club did and looking at his history is pretty spot on around Palace stuff, that every club apart from Cambridge and Cheltenham backed out of their Gordon approaches because the club was taking too long and some clubs just want their squads done. Gordon not happy as one of the L1 clubs who asked weeks ago really appealed to him and his style of play but they've moved on.

I get what you mean but I can't see Hughes leaving him out this weekend. Be interesting to see who does miss out though. There will always be 2 defenders on the bench which leaves space for 2 MFs and 2 FWs. Do we know when Gilliead is back?

TBF he was possibly right about Gordon - he said we had 'won the race' and this was 3 weeks ago - but looks like Palace had a few issues and decided to keep a hold of him. He would have had egg on his face had Gordon gone elsewhere the next day.

He loves a 'won the race' line. Because he is trying the Patreon model, he tries getting scoops out earlier than the rest which more often than not is throwing names at a player in the hope it sticks. Once it tracks and moves momentum if that player goes elsewhere, he always pulls out the "better option came later" line. Problem with that model is, he gets the unreliable journalist tag he gets because he's charging for scoops that don't materialise.

Looking through our threads, Nixon has said over this summer we had won the races for..... JK Gordon, Tyler Smith, Jack Hunt, Kyron Gordon & Denis Adeniran. Either his City source isn't that reliable, or we get used by agents in the media to try make other clubs bid?

Gilly should be back anytime it seems. Hughes said after Stockport that Gilly had a whack to the thigh and it had a problem, shouldn't be more than a couple of weeks. Imagine if he's not on the bench by Saturday, should be by the Grimsby game.

Surely it’s for Chapman to earn the spot from Pointon, but as you say Hughes likes to make unpopular decisions.

    Few other L2 bits....

Looks like Wrexham have been turned down by another striker in Tshimanga and are now looking close to signing Brandon Hanlon from Wycombe. Hanlon has been a starter at L1 level for the past 5 seasons, without a prolific goal scoring record to his name.

We will be seeing Jack Payne again this season, he is about to sign on loan for MK Dons. Seems strange to loan out Dan Kemp to play 10 at Swindon to then bring in Jack Payne?

My comment was very tongue in cheek on Hughes selections, but I wouldn't put it past him. To be fair, I reckon 99% of managers would want a winger with Chapmans CV on the bench or starting ahead of a kid with about an hour of mens football currently to his name.

From the limited evidence I’ve seen, Pointon has been as effective as Chapman in that he’s unpredictable, but he has to do it consistently over a season.
