I agree about all the away games a couple of poor results can kill confidence. It’s a tough start to the season

Tshimanga looks like a big ol' gamble to me.

I guess they'll know him from non league though.

Believe he's had previous moves fall through due to injury...

Be surprised if we aren’t televised. The Americans are obsessed with Wrexham after the documentary (ever seen their FB comments after any club post?) - it would have a bigger global audience than most ties, even if not biggest UK audience.

Leeds I could understand if they are shown - they have a huge global following too, much as we don’t like to admit it. Huge club.

If it’s not live on tv you can still watch it in a few years when it’s on welcome to Wrexham!
I do think there’s a chance of US coverage though

ESPN show League cup games on ESPN+ but I don't know if it's either actual team that stream it, or they relay the UK feeds so just whichever games Sky use.

I was out in LA last November not long after Season 1 had ended and there were still Welcome to Wrexham adverts everywhere. FX must have spent an absolute fortune on marketing that show, the advertising areas across Sunset and Hollywood Boulevard all had FX/Wrexham logos everywhere. Last season they purchased 24,000 shirts from Macron to be created, knowing they'd have a boom once the show started in September.... by January they sold all 24,000 shirts. Again this season, their home shirts initial online allocation sold out within 2 hours. Yanks have well and truly taken Wrexham on.

Its mental! Its not just football fans interested either is it. Ryan Reynolds has so many fans that as long as he is there, his army of female (and male) admirers will also follow them with interest.

I think the attention they get is good for City as we are no longer the biggest scalp in the league and it feels like they are stealing the limelight.

If i remember rightly, they outsold Crystal Palace for Macron shirts sold last season and only Nottingham Forest sold more shirts for Macron, which I'm guessing was A) because it was their first PL shirt in ages and B) because they didn't have a big sponsor across the front so fans liked getting the plan top. Forest said their shirt sales went up by 6 times of the season before for the PL, but now they've gone to Adidas, I'm guessing Wrexham will be Macrons biggest demanded client now in the UK?

Yes, i think they are now the scalp everyone wants this season too. You saw it last season when NL strikers scored past Ben Foster, usual first thing they did was to try pull off something infront of his little camera he takes.

My older daughter lives in San Francisco. She and her husband are huge sports fans and she is confident that the game will be shown live in the USA.
She watches all City League games via I-Follow with an annual pass (gets up at 8.00 a.m. on a Saturday!). So a long distance supporter.

Weren't we able to watch these games on i-Follow last season before Sky came in and took them off us?

Wrexham fan here been following the bantams since Mark Hughes got the managers job. Been a Wrexham fan for many years and the trials and tribulations the club has had to go through is startling 10 years ago to this very day the fans had to raise £100.000 in a day otherwise we would cease to exist, fans put their deeds to their homes up weddings cancelled and that money went into the pot, kids turning up with their piggy banks and we did it. The proudest moment as a fan ever. Even more than having Hollywood owners. The club has now hit paydirt the sky's the limit at the moment our turnover for this coming season is predicted to be £20 million plus. I'm old enough to remember when we played the park avenue at the racecourse. I've never been to Bradford but I will make an effort to get to your place for the league game your support for your club is outstanding more than anyone else in league two. I can't see our owners stopping think some major signings will be through the doors before the window closes. Good luck for the season and let's hope we meet in league one next season.

The sky isn't the limit though, because whatever your turnover you'll never attract gates of more than 12,000 on a regular basis. As a result, even if you get to the PL by buying the leagues to get there (and becoming despised by proper fans in the process the way Man Utd are) you will never aspire to be more than a Bournemouth.

Enjoy your plastic hollywood ride, the rest of us will stick to real football.

Spot on! Wrexham can never grow any bigger than the likes of Brentford or Bournemouth no matter which league they’re in.
I’m glad they’re back in the EFL but they’ll quickly become hated if they are actively finding ways to avoid playing by the financial fair play rules and bringing in PL/Championship players on high wages

Is the date confirmed yet? Why the delay?
Are we waiting for Sky to make their minds up?

@Ulysses S Grant@Ulysses S Grant has made a valid point in respect of the potential supporters attendance, based on history. There will be a finite number of spectators in the ground.
Outside of Wrexham town, the area is very sparsely populated. Chester already has an established club, the Merseyside and Mancunian giants are not too far away for those who want to watch established Premiership giants.
Like many on here, I have no antipathy towards Wrexham, however I do feel that some clubs are ‘assisted’ beyond their normal level of functioning by their owners. Salford, Forest Green Rovers and Fleetwood spring to mind.

I'd settle for being as big as Brentford or Bournemouth.

    I agree.
We deride teams that have structures in place and have achieved something.
We are a million miles behind teams like that and yet we treat them with a bit of contempt.

I think they'll be the first real online club.
12000 home gates but 5 times as many funding the club from around the world.

Whilst we are waiting for confirmation of the date (probably Tuesday 29 August 2023) and for tickets to go on sale, here's a few bits of info I've dug up:
    • For their 1st round game against Wigan Athletic, ticket prices were £10 adults and £5 concessions
    • Wrexham state that proof of age is required to gain entry with concession tickets
    • Wrexham also state that lost tickets will not be replaced and that includes any lost in the post
    • Tickets are unable to be collected from Wrexham FC
    • Expect to receive an allocation of around 1,100 tickets
    • Away supporters enter the ground through the Wrexham Lager Stand nearest to the STōK Cold Coffee Brew Stand. Entry is via turnstiles 1-4
    • Alcohol is not available in the away section

They’re not exactly selling it are they?
