We had three opportunities to stop that goal. Defence, and midfield were weak tackles or non existent.

No problem playing out from the back its all about movement OFF the ball giving options to the player ON the ball.

Possibly (hopefully), due to it being a pre season game and players being extra careful not to pick up an injury. That's what I'm going with anyway!

I said as much yesterday. Our left side defending play was poor. It should never have got as far as the cut back.

That’s our weakness…left wingback. Rides sadly will become a squad defender if we go for a left wing back who is capable of playing in a flat back four. We have yet to see that on display?

It’s about balance I don’t think you can accommodate the two of them unless Walker plays up front beside Cook to replace Smith. When fit I think McDonald will come into midfield, the first half formation yesterday left the defence to exposed

What I have seen so far in what is only practice matches us more of a positive attitude we looked to have been more on the front foot. I hope they carry this on to the season

Hughes did make a comment after the game saying this season we hope to play in the opposition half, hopefully it means less dicing with death at the back.

That is our problem at the moment. Players have the ball then pass it to someone or into a space hoping that someone will pick it up, but then do not move themselves to be in a position to receive the ball back, particularly by moving upfield thus getting us on attack.

I think we have movement off the ball but we're too slow to make the pass or wanted to make one too many amongst the defence.

Yes agreed , but they were mostly a full CC 11. ( They won’t do well imho) We won’t come across players like Delap and Vaughn in L2 . The mobility of Man City’s Delap was reminiscent of some top end centre forwards. He was strong, had pace, had ball control . He was their anchor between the half way line and the edge of the box. So balance is key but let’s not throw the baby out with the bath water because we drew against a CC team.

Lucky, it’s pre season because that is poor.

When you put it like that we should be scoring 7 or 8 every game. Who knew football was so easy!

There's a reason why these type of goals normally get featured on goal of the month highlight reels. It's bloody hard to pull it off and it's an extremely low percentage strategy.

Didn't get close enough to the ball to make a challenge at any point. A booking would've been the only option. That was an excellent goal tbf. Great touch, great passing. Can't remember seeing anuthing like that at this level.

It looks like MH is favouring a 3-5-2 formation but with the signing's and the squad we have it looks like a 4-3-3 set up would play much more to our strengths, Having said that the majority of top teams and coaches prefer and use a 4-3-3 set up with slight adjustments regarding the opposition
