Need to clear one out you would think - We have 5 on the books with the young kid making it 6.

 

I agree with that, I'd still like another player, pre 25ish, with league experience up top and with some pace. I still don't believe Oliver is right for the style we play and would suit more of a Stevenage style. Jephcott or Andrew Dallas if we could hijack his move to Oldham or Chesterfield or even if we could try for Telford if Crawley are having a quick sale.

 

Telford ….I don’t see anything in him at all.

 

We still could see a surprise when the new kit is revealed Serge…That’s my best guess.

 

I was still hoping we’d try and sign this lad as he’s a great age and looked very comfortable in the middle of the park. It looks like he’s signed for Port Vale unfortunately.

 

They need to strengthen…they had a terrible first season in 1.

I was thinking maybe Ashley Hunter - left winger who has left Morecombe.

 

He has had a good career so far. But why do we need another right back

 

So we’re going for 4 right backs and 1 left back this season. Leaner and more flexible indeed Mr Sparks.

 

Can play right midfield apparently

 

He has a great pedigree and would be a fantastic signing for L2. But we signed a RB just a few days ago so this doesn't make sense. Unless Halliday is off.

Either way I think Hendrie is finished regardless and will be gone soon.

On what looks like being a quiet day for rumours I thought I'd give my take on how we are shaping up so far.

In my opinion from last season we lost four decent players - Clayton, Banks, Crichlow and Tyreik Wright (who was never adequately replaced). Don't forget, three of these were loans and we haven't really got to the loan signing part of the season.

From the business that we've done so far I see Alex Pattison and Kevin McDonald in the first XI, with Tyler Smith and Ash Taylor in the best 16 and Clarke Oduor and Daniel Oyegoke filling out the squad. I'd like to think that we will make another good (first 11 standard) signing and bring in another four loan signings (in the hope that perhaps two will come good). The weak areas at present look like left back and right wing, but not being privvy to Mark Hughes' tactics it's a bit difficult to be certain where we need to strengthen.

So, with plenty of time remaining, I reckon we are 60% of the way there with a need to bring in three players capable of being in our best 16.

 

Another with a very good CV, wouldn't be surprised with the sort of players we've been signing. Seem to be going for a squad of players who've been there and done it. I wouldn't say no to Ash Hunter either

 

Tyler Smith was brought in to replace the void left by Wright - he comes as a starter.

Clayton was released - upgraded with McDonald.

 

I'm happy that Tyler Smith brings us something a bit different up front, but he's not really a winger. We've had a few forwards who have been pushed out wide (such as Jake Young) and it's not really worked for them. We need a specialist in that position and certainly someone who can cross a ball.

 

I totally disagree if we play 3 up front the wide player need to be wide strikers which we didn’t have last season
