    Would expect a full strength team at eccleshill and carlisle now. Plenty of players needing match fitness.

    Not a prayer we’ll play a full team against Eccleshill to get kicked and bruised for 90 minutes.

    Not only that, but it’s hardly competition.

    As others have said, waste of time.

    We'll probably lose as well, Harrogate will be a half decent conference side this season.

    Most of the squad haven't played 90 minutes all pre season. I'd be giving them at least 45 mins each on Tuesday and Saturday

    We’ll play our strongest starting XI at Carlisle. Most teams our level only play their main eleven in the final 1 or 2 pre season games, the rest of the matches are used to give new players a run about, see trialists in action, up their match fitness etc. We can’t realisticly expect to play our starting XI in 6/7 pre season matches, it doesn’t make sense.

    Our pre season fixtures have been planned poorly. Not enough competitive games for first team players - and Collins can’t afford a poor start. He needs his players sharp, ready to hit the ground running . I’d be tempted to try and organise another midweek friendly.

    It puts into context the ‘strength’ of our so called development team.

    At our level, it’s a concept that doesn’t work. We should do no more than have 3-4 young players on the fringes of the first team. Put the rest of the money spent on it to bring more players like scannell and Payne in.
