I really don’t think we’ve a chance of getting him back on loan to be honest. He’s shown enough in preseason to be on the periphery of the starting 11 in the championship, so I’d imagine a top end league one side will be his next destination. Unless of course we make an offer to buy him. If we did strike a deal the sell on clause would be high in all probability.

They've signed another forward this afternoon. Also Muskwe and Mendes Gomes played today for the u23s along with Pereira as they come back to fitness. He's maybe 6th down the pecking order at most when everyone is fit there. Pereira got an assist and played the full game. Apparently he was MOTM when they played Peterborough in pre season who just sold an attacking mid/winger to Blackburn. Wonder if he impressed Darragh?

To not be used when on the bench at home to Birmingham must have him thinking Luton probably isn't his best option career wise, at his age he needs to be playing regularly.

A little more quality and craft would not go amiss, it would be very welcome this week.

    Not being greedy

Dion and Diamond. Dion played right side anyway of the three which would cover for the now long term injury of Osadebe , and Diamond for the missing number 12?

It was only one match. He's sensible enough to give it another couple of weeks.

It won't be him who makes the call but still plenty of time left.

Hughes said in T&A that he was willing to wait until end of window for perriera that may have changed now due to osadebes injury but I still think he will be willing to wait, if he don’t get any game time
By end of month I think he will be banging are door down to come back

Then that's just blind optimism. If you can't get on against a team that's arguably going to be the most defensive they'll face at home - then when do you get a game.

What you've written applies to probably 50/100 players from the last weekend.

Could say the same about Jake Young, right?

You only want it to be true because it would positively affect us in terms of him coming to us.

I don't think finding him a L1 club, who will play him sufficiently enough for Jones to then hand him a new contract in January is realistic (leaving it any later - means Pereira is more likely to do what he wants)

    Several factors are against this;-
    1. He's never started more than five matches on the trot. His best run has been with us
    2. Jones is want to see him guaranteed games with a demanding, i.e. large crowd. If he goes to Fleetwood and runs riot - what does that prove when the decision is whether he's worth a contract extension, for a promotion chasing Championship club.
    3. Are Barnsley, Ipswich, Sheff Wednesday, Portsmouth etc, with the pressure they're under really going to take a punt on a player, who is nearly 24 and frankly unproven as to whether he can play even six games on the trot?

I suppose someone like Derby, who really aren't under promotion pressure - but have a great crowd etc, might be a possibility. But Jones has to have him playing games or perhaps he let's him run down his contract.

Jones will also have observed how great Hughes was with him as well.

I'm not that bothered either way as I trust the management team to get someone in who fits out bill.

I knew someone would mention Jake Young!! But that's a daft comparison. Hughes has given him a contract this season. If Jones had given Dion a similar new contract - I wouldn't be posting.

He's in his third season at Luton and has made one appearance. He has a great pre-season. But can't even get on the pitch against a team, where a bit of different creativity was needed to break their oppositions 'park the bus' stance. If that doesn't make him amongst the '10% most vulnerable to getting forced out a their club' then you wonder what does.

I'm merely presenting the evidence, with an opinion. I'm not bothered if he comes, as if he doesn't I have so much confidence in Hughes to make the correct signing. But it's not foolhardy, to think that there is a chance he might be back.

Birmingham didn't park the bus. Have a look at the stats and read the reports. Luton haven't had great results against them recently. You didn't/haven't presented any evidence. It was/is all your opinion and as you say, you might be right or you might be wrong.

I really did try to let it go guv. Honestly I did but banbrotam not only makes things up to back up his point of view he even repeats it 2 or 3 times to continue the debate.

"Parked the bus" did they? See much of the game did you?

MH has ruled out rushing in for a replacement for Osadebe. He wants to keep his options open until the end of August. That suggests to me that he still thinks he has a chance of re-signing Pereira back on loan or perhaps has someone else in mind and waiting to hear whether available

I read it like he isn’t looking to replace Osadebe unless he really has to. Like he says we have Gillead coming back to full fitness and Chapman also plays in that position. Levi who came on to replace Osadebe can also cover like he did on Saturday.

We are shorter on the left than we are the right. If we were looking to bolster then id be looking at a left footed AM but also someone who can get to the by-line and put in a cross.

Problem with part of that philosophy for me is Sutton. In my opinion he looked poor on Saturday
“ covering” Osadebe . Somehow looked totally out of position. Difficult to explain, but “ impact“ wise, I can’t think of any elements of the game where he made an impact in that position he was asked to cover. They are chalk and cheese players in all honesty. He wasn’t a winger/ wide player, he wasn’t a marauding wing back either . An observation of course.

Agreed and I think it was odd that Chapman didnt come on instead of Sutton.
