Chairman hires head coach with no director of football, polls the fans on who they'd like them to sign. Signs them for the head coach and then expects a team mentality on stats alone. It'll either work, or will fail massively.

Ridehalgh was a hernia - I think they confirmed it prior to the Carlisle game as the reason why he was missing as they'd made him have the op as early as possible so he had the best chance of being fit for pre-season. And, like you, no idea about Sutton either.

Find me an example of “ they” to support your reply. Just one will do, with a link.

9 youth players been given pro contracts. We now have the largest squad I’ve ever known.

I and anyone that is optimistic about our prospects after our recuitment don't know for certain if we will be in the top three and neither do you know that we won't. You can speculate given previous season's efforts (with different squads AND managers/coaches) but you don't know.
Personally I will look to see how the squad gels and how they cope with playing in front of the Valley Parade crowds.
I for one like the look of the squad Mark Hughes is putting together but time will tell.

This youth team are better than our past ones aren’t they? Don’t follow the youth team but didn’t we win the title or do well? Hats off to Drury (if it is still him there)

Every year for the last 50 years , before a ball is kicked I’m so optimistic for the coming season , you would think I would learn but again can’t wait to get going again ,there will be weekends when I’m on a high , thinking this is a good team , then other weekends when I will be depressed about our chances , he’s to another season of watching Bradford city

To be fair Steve, if you can't be optimistic before a new season starts then time to find something else to follow ;) (Fordy?)
Problem is only a handful of teams can really fulfill the hopes we all start out with! I will confidently predict City fans will enjoy this one a lot more than the previous half dozen - be a few rockfalls on the way but that's the life of a football fan where you REALLY support your team, not attach to a club for instant glory:foot:

Do you know who makes the decision on whether to reward a youngster with a pro contract? Is if the manager/coaches in the academy or is it the first team manager/coach?

In fairness only one of them is going to be part of the 1st team squad - the 3rd choice goalie. The rest are going to play u19s according to the article on the club's site. I do wonder if we'll look to set up an u23s/reserves next season (2023/24) otherwise these kids will find it hard to progress unless we suddenly become great at loaning them out, not just to local non-league clubs?

I have no idea my best guess is it will be a sit down meeting with the youth team coach, Hughes, Gent and Sparks with Hughes having the final say.

I think it’s joint Dennis. MH said he had monthly meetings with the Academy team where player progress is discussed. I can’t see any other reasonable way? Im sure the Academy team will be the driver and MH/GH will be the arbiters as they hold the budget…?

    I would think :
Academy Manager: Neil Matthews, Head of Coaching and Player Development : Martin Drury, and Ryan Sparks. ( He Holds the Money.)

Mark Hughes no input to the decisions on this Group of Players , it’s been announced today, but offers were made many months ago before Hughes was appointed Manager.
