I still think there will be another CB coming in, a more experienced head around all the young lads and especially if we do go 3 at the back. We need a RB some quality next to Smallwood and a goalscorer. Get them and I'll lump on for the title

I think Hornby will be leaving shortly. Doyle was speaking in the golf day video and only mentioned a Lewis.

Don't think there is room or a need for another CB. We've signed 3 already and lost just the 1 over the summer, and we still have Songo'o

Kelleher isn't very good, Staunton isn't ready Songo'o is a dcm who was forced to play cb. If Hughes does go 3 at the back which I believe he is doing he's not going to do it with 3 young lads and a makeshift cb

I don't see anything to suggest we are going to 3 at the back?

Songo made his case at the end of last season for a starting position
an we have 3 CBs brought in. All of whom were regulars at their respective league two teams last season an wont want to settle for a place on the bench

3 at the back has now become an option

We seem well stocked all over the park imho with a decent sized squad we will want to keep happy with game time , I’d rather see us keep some funds back now (they might already be gone) and see how the season goes ready to bolster end of Aug or in Jan if required.

Well it's always an option if you've got 3 centre backs. There's nothing to suggest we're going to do it though.
    Who are the wing backs?

Foulds is better attacking wise than defensively. Ridehalgh isnt too bad either and was pretty consistent at the start of the season

As for the right side, Id imagine Hughes has someone in mind. There was rumours going around about some young RB we were interested in taking in on loan? can’t the remember the name but he was highly rated

Playing 3 at the back may also allow Staunton to come back into the fold. He did well on the left side when McCall deployed 3 at the back. albeit, that was a life time ago

I have to say, the club deserve real credit for their approach this summer. There are some of our players who I know little about, and not every signing will work out. But we've recruited to a proper plan, we've recruited early, we've shown ambition, we've committed to relatively long term contracts amd created stability for the next couple of years.

We've organised ourselves properly for the first time in several years.

And for the first time in years, I think the optimism that most feel is grounded in reality rather than blind hope.

There's nothing to suggest we're going to 3 at the back other than we've now got 3 good centre backs.
Staunton won't start a league game all season.
I just cannot see it. MH would need to sacrifice Dion/Walker/Chapman.

Odusina actually started the season on the bench for Hartlepool and only won a regular place in the side in December. Likewise Matty Platt didn't feature regularly for Barrow until November. They are both young center backs who showed a lot of promise in the second half of the season. I don't think either will mind if they don't play every single game as long as they get a shot. We won't go three at the back, or at least not regularly.

I didn’t mean to imply that we would solely play 3 at the back throughout the season. But I think it may become more a logical option for certain away games where our backs will be up against the wall.

As for the attacking side of things. Hughes likes to rotate an to keep his team fresh. An if we do play in a system with 3 up front as mentioned, You could have Cook for example leading the line with Angol playing off him on the left, Walker on the right. Alternatively, Angol could lead the line with Chapman an pereria playing off him

Im just glad we have the option to even discuss this. The fact that we have a strong team where we can switch things up, formation an personnel alike

We all saw what happened when teams caught on to our 4-2-3-1 system an T&S couldn’t think of a plan B

just to finish up on the talk of potentially playing 3 at the back. Osadebe was deployed at Walsall as a RWB for the second half of the season an multiple Walsall fans did say that was the position Osadebe was the most consistent in. It certainly is an option. An I do believe that Hughes has given the idea some serious consideration

After Smallwood signed Coral had us 9/1 to win league. Its 7/1 now after Odusina confirmed. Only Bet 365 are 9/1.

ive done a wee treble after seeing @Sergio Pinto III’s post. Man City, us and Wrexham to win our leagues at 30/1
