    So was Chris Waddle, Frank Stapleton and Mike Duxbury.
    I don’t know why people are so against signing older players who can still do a job for us. Now is not the right time to take a risk on kids, we need promotion NOW.

    One of the factors that might be influencing Salford's planned move, is the intention for a small town to be built about ten minutes away from the ground.

    Still no genuine player names .Forest have released a young cdm. Josh Barnes. They have Will Swan who was at Vale but didn’t score many . He’s scored a few in under 23.. We shall see .

    A 5,000 capacity stadium restricts Salford rugby league club especially in the games against local rivals like saints and Wigan when the away followings are large. With very little scope either for corporate facilities the stadium was little more than a stop gap for Neville's plans. Shame the willows was pulled down because it was a great place to watch rugby league l.

    Who is against signing older players?

    Most of us are laughing at the idea of signing a retired Elmohamady and a US defender who went back home last year.

    Hardly comparable to the likes of Jon Stead and Gary Jones .

    The best teams have balance young up and coming players alongside possible a couple of old heads with ball players alongside a bit of brawn let’s hope we get the balance right this time

    Yep spotted it when we were down in March. On the northern edge of Colchester, miles from the town centre, station, and a pub. Somebody in the town said it was a graceless stadium, with about as much presence as a motorway roundabout!

    That about sums it up. I’ve been to many City games there over 25 years or so and yes it’s a soulless place. Intermingled between Car showroom steel boxes and warehouses. Matchday drink experience is limited to £4-5 bottled dishwater . As I said , drive or hike. Truly awful place and they wonder why home crowds are poor. It’s just not fan friendly is the best way to describe it.

    Includes the old ground at Layer Rd , it wasn’t far from us in Stortford so me and the lad used to pop over when there was nothing “ City on” .

    I remember that long hike from the railway station to the ground on Patsy's special back in the day, last match of the season. What a day that was.

    I think we lost that 1-0 to lose out on promotion, if it’s the one I went to. Layer Rd was bad but the new ground….wow.

    No that was Peterborough where we lost 1-0 and stayed down, 1980 i think. City had already been promoted when we went to Colchester, but they needed to win to get promoted and beat us 2-1, that was 1977.

    Yes, I was on that train as well. I remember part of the old wooden terracing, in the away end, giving way under the weight of all the City fans.
