Neither do I. Budget will soundly be based on season ticket sales end of! How does anyone second guess what they will be?

I get that Andy but how the hell are you supposed to get promoted to a league above when you can't retain players who are better than the league you are in.

Complete madness if we don't back Hughes to the hilt with what he wants and needs.[/QUOTE]

    They are better than L2……..?

Maybe the answer is not to do what City have tried to do for the last few seasons and throw the kitchen sink at it. Maybe the jigsaw might take a couple of seasons to complete....i just dont think certain people on here want to wait that long.

Forrest Green AND Exeter have seen steady progress yet we change managers like underwear and change squads season by season.

    Time for a different approach

I'm interested in what constitutes a 'good' owner, obviously assuming we don't get a rich Sheikh willing to throw their families money at us.

Granted Rupp has overseen abject failure throughout his tenure, but in fairness he clearly has/had little interest in football and has been guided by the charlatan that was Rahic and then the 'saviour' that is Rhodes. Yes he has not seemingly learnt by appointing a complete novice in Sparks but they have I believe fallen very lucky with the appointment of Hughes. If (and it's a big if) he provides the backing which has been hinted at previously, I am hoping that this ship might finally turn around.

Don't get me wrong, I would prefer a more interested owner but looking at our owners post the Richmond era - I would say only Lawn has actually had the interest and drive (but ultimately not the money) to attempt to move us forward albeit he (& Rhodes) got lucky by the appointment of Parky. The years of regression under Rhodes was far worse than what we have endured recently - save for Rahic which Rupp duly dealt with.

I am hoping that Hughes can be a similar catalyst and will prove to be a success despite the ownership - but he will need the financial support.

    Without knowing the facts?

The facts are, year on year regression. A disinterested owner and a CEO that has made more mistakes in his short tenure than Mason and Baldwin put together.

Couple all that with constant contradictions (very competitive budget yet can't afford hand driers) and I'm unsure why you feel its fans trying to put down the club.

Quite the opposite I'd suggest, it's fans that are passionate and are calling out the current regimes mismanagement.

Have a look at declining season ticket sales. That'll give you a good start.

And how do we do that when our better players are constantly moved on when we can't afford to compete with other clubs in their contracts?

Parader's right, we MIGHT need to spend a couple of season's putting the squad together - which would have meant sticking with Bowyer's boring football, or sticking with Adams' dour demeanour and nonsensical statements of how our Xg matters when we can't put the ball in the net.

But Monkey's also right that if we can't keep the likes of Watt, Vernam and Paudie, none of whom have exactly been elite League Two players while they've been with us, how exactly do we do that?

Bottom line is, if we're not rewarding our most promising players with competitive pay rises, they're going to leave. We could put a marker down and go all out for those players, but if our budget isn't going to budge with it, what's the point?

Starting again is moronic, and we've literally been banging our head against a brick wall in recent seasons without even the slightest hope of showing an improvement, and yet the alternative requires something a little more creative than just 'we'll see if we can afford to keep them' or whatever Mark Hughes came out with this week.

The good news for those that see this regime for what it is, is, should Hughes not be given the tools to get the job done, it will FINALLY dawn on some of our fan base that no, the biggest problem wasn't Bowyer or Adams (despite the fact that they were objectionable in some ways), the problem is the guys running the show who'd struggle to organise a piss up in a brewery.

Actually, scratch that, I'm sure they COULD raise a piss up, but they'd only end up hiring a top class brewery and then outsourcing the catering to Carling and Pukka :*@:*@:*@

This is a post that needs to resonate with folk on here. Too many think that the words 'Mark Hughes' and this 'competititve salary' will magic us into league 1. Forgetting that the underlying cause of the problems at this club have actually been not having any plan of attack from the captain's of the ship.

We are talking about the budget here . I think we are all aware the club has regressed playing wise.
If you know what are playing budget is and that it has been reduced for next season, then show us the evidence. Although i am pretty certain even the club can only guess until the season ticket campaign is done.
We have no god given right to win football matches and be in league 1 or the championship.
Yes we should expect better and the player recruitment has been generally poor, but all this moaning about Rupp , Rahic or even Sparks , will not change a damn thing.
PS i would rather every penny available went to the playing budget, do not give a damn about hand driers, in a facility that we do not even own. Yes the ground needs some TLC , but did you ever stand on the old open kop. in the words of monty pythons yorkshire men , the current stadium is LUXURY.

    It's all about the money.

Budget has already been brought up for next season. It's doesn't sound good.

    Some will be disappointed.

    Good afternoon happy clappers.

During last seasons season ticket sale period, there was much news across socials and BCFC website on sales. Over two weeks in, and the noises are muncher quieter this time around.

    Still, early days but..

Oh right, might aswell not bother then eh?

Crack on Rupp, because plenty will seemingly be happy to keep feeding you their money whilst being completely silent on your abject failure and mismanagement.

It's no wonder he's happy just to let it fund itself in the hope he gets lucky and squeezes a few more quid out of it if no one is allowed to hold him responsible.
