James Norwood at Ipswich. Out of contract in the summer, partnered Cook at Tranmere very well in 2018 banging 51 goals between them. Was out of favour and playing with Ipswich U23 until recalled to squad Saturday under the new manager. How about 6 months loan deal, gets him off their wages and gives him a platform with a possible contract at the end of it? Either that or buy him for a small fee.

 

I'd still take him over Gillead.

Oxford and Pompey are publicly after him, don't think he'll drop down to L2 with that level of interest, but if McGreal gets the job full time he sounds like he is going to use Norwood so he might end up staying. He's bought a house in Bury St Edmunds and has a 5 year suspended sentence for drink driving, cant see him wanting to move all this way.

Also, we've heard of him. We know the City way of transfers, we'll sign 5 or 6 and most likely have never heard of any of them.

 

Wouldn't mind seeing us bring in Dion McGhee, ex-Manchester United U21, he was highly sought after when he left their academy and went to Portuguese PL side Braga, but is now a free agent. Turned down Rangers for that move.

If there's nothing untoward about his release, he might be similar to the lad Foulds, another kid who went abroad but it didn't work out.

I'd rather have a Foulds-level youngster on the books than a Gareth Evans, to be honest.

 

Kyle Letheren was linked at the weekend, Morecambe keeper from the play off run last year. Adams has signed him for two clubs before. Seems to be in and out their L1 squad, using a youth loanee keeper mainly.

Don't think Adams really trusts either of our current keepers, wouldn't be surprised if he goes in again for a guy he knows well.

 

I'd prefer DA to use the new scouting team, rather than relying on players he "knows well". His hand picked signings haven't really worked out as yet. Although Songo'o looks to be growing into the team. Threlkeld is one of the worst signings we've made in years (and we've signed a few clangers!).

I was very impressed with this lad when Oldham came to VP earlier. Quite dangerous.

 

I mean, for all we know Evans is on the upper end of our pay scale, and we might not be in prime to position to sign these young lads with all the Academy sides looking to snap up prospects.

 

Oh I've no doubt Evans is a top earner. Great signing, he was. That said, I'm amazed we aren't trying him at right back given how bad Threlkeld is.

 

Difficult one to say either way. He got his house broken into last month and his car stolen so I don't think he holds the area with too much attachment.
More likely links are to Bristol Rovers and a return to Tranmere but with us having Andy Cook here we may just have his interest in rekindling the partnership.

He is on the transfer list at Ipswich and the chairman hates him so really don't think he will be staying there beyond January. They are after a ball playing CM, straight swap for Elliot Watt in January?

 

Doubt it. No injuries this season. Doesn't tick all the boxes....

 

Won't happen if we rely on loans. They tend to happen at the back end of the window, but which time we will have less than 20 games left

I'm hoping we get a good goalkeeper on loan but let's be honest a loan has never solved our goalscoring problems before and it's pretty unlikely to happen now

 

Andy Cook had a very good strike rate whilst on loan last year.

GK, CM, CF (another CB wouldn’t hurt if we can ship one out)
Stockton on loan is a good shout if he’s like Cook was last season and they resume their partnership.

 

Stockton on loan? You mean Cole Stockton? The bloke who in the summer signed a new deal 2 year deal at Morecambe? Who has started 20 games in L1 this season and scored 13 goals?...... you think he might leave to drop a division, on loan?

If he leaves Morecambe, it wont be on loan and it wont be to L2 unless someone chucks a shed load of cash at them. But yeah, new spine needed, right back needed, a winger who actually can stay fit too?

 

Anyone who can actually stay fit would be a feckin bonus.
