Summer 2021 Transfers

Now that Adams is here I think we might finally get a proper tackling midfielder (or two) that we all know we've been lacking for years.

 

I can only hope he is personally I think he's been very poor

The way we treated Evans baffled me last season, a good mate of mine is a ST holder at Fratton Park, when we signed Evans he said “one of the few decent decisions Jacket made as manager was to play Evans at Right back, he couldn’t hack it wide right in midfield and didn’t have enough about him to play centre mid, however he could still play a killer cross so from right back he’d bomb forward on the overlap, get the space he needed and provided some great crosses. Surprisingly ok at defending too, struggled sometimes against a speed merchant”
So what do we do.........
Play him in midfield of course with a centre half and or a young prospect preferred at right back.
Summed up T&S’s defence mindset that they didn’t want full backs bombing forward I suppose.

 

I get and understand what you are saying , but for the life in me , I couldn’t see Evans bombing anywhere, so that part of being full back would have been completely absent?

 

He would struggle to bomb in a swimming pool

 

I'm sorry he had a brief spell where he looked decent but in the whole he was very disappointing. I suspect he will go because of what's gone on in the past with Adams. Roportedly one of the highest earners and no where close to justifying it to me.

 

As predicted. It would have been pretty petty for a manager to get rid of a player the same day due to words exchanged 5 years ago. Evans may well leave in the summer but it was never going to be straight away x

 

I guess I jumped to conclusions a bit too early after seeing Parker's tweet yesterday, but I would still be very surprised if he is a city player come August.

 

Joe Ledley anyone ? 34 , got another 2 years in him i reckon .

And there's probably a reason for that. Don't forget, we have some very talented teenagers who need some time on the field to develop.

We can’t play that game if we are serious about going up.

 

We can't bang them all in straight away but they need to be an integral part of the squad to take up their roles as needed. It's a long old season, injuries etc bite. They are talented, getting stronger and they can get away with their mistakes better in this division than a division higher. Look at the teams that went up, Bolton apart 2nd half, do you think that our teens are unable to compete with that?

 

If they are good enough they are old enough.

 

Agreed. The standard of L2 last season was abysmal.

 

I wouldn't blame T and S for Evans poor spell. Don't forget McCall signed him because he remembered him as a striker over a decade ago. He pretty much admitted the week after, he didn't know where he'd be best fit
