I saw that article from Parker, very strange one, he mentioned Bristol are interested then said they’re not. So what is it then? All sounds like it’s come from the top at City to get interest generated on him, we will get hardly anything from POC anyway, majority goes to Beeston Utd.

 

Majority of fee to Leeds?, can't see that, sure there is a sell on fee clause though, but surely not the majority

I was always of the understanding that they got the majority, someone else may know better though?

 

Not at the moment but with proper coaching I could see him improving. The problem this season was being too rash and hot headed, but he certainly put himself about and seemed to play well alongside Canavan. He’s only young for a central defender and should continue to learn if he cools down.

 

I remember it was said at the time we signed him that they have a very high sell on clause.

 

I used to work with Liam Nobles father-in-law. He’d come through Sunderlands academy (even as a staunch Newcastle fan) but wasn’t going to make it into the first team. As such his name was touted about. He had loan spells at Orient and then Carlisle (under Abbo). Carlisle eventually signed him on a free, but Sunderland retained a 70% sell on rather than ask for a transfer fee.

Turned out to be irrelevant in the end as his career never really got going and he ended up at Forest Green and Notts County. Think he’s now at Hartlepool.

Point being that as Carlisle couldn’t afford a transfer fee Sunderland took the gamble that he’d have a future value. Though he was on £3k per week basic in league 2!!

 

I like Paudie but hes not good enough for the championship. He lacks pace and his 1v1 defending isn't great. He's a good head it, kick it defender which is probably why he's good enough for this level.

 

He makes too many basic errors at league 2 level and he's painfully slow. I hope he does turn up in the championship but for me he hasn't got the skil set needed.

AOC was a better defender and player but lacked positional discipline at times, His high salary was always going to mean we would let him go.

I thought the same when Bowyer brought him in on loan and mentioned he was one Leeds thought highly of, then to sign him I believe there was a comment at the time Leeds had a large sell on.

 

So pointless selling him especially when we are losing one of our best players and most of the fee is going across to that lot.
