Maybe never even a target but former Peterborough United attacking midfielder Marcus Maddison has just signed for Spalding United.
Some thing seriously wrong there a player at the time while with the posh would have walked into most league one and league two teams

• Ben Stevenson - decent centre mid. Only 24.
• Conor McAleny - yes please. 100%.
• Oscar Threlkeld - full back, went up with Plymouth under Adams.
• Tom Clarke - experienced centre back. Local too.
• Jacob Bedeau - £1m man a few years ago. Still only 21. Could be worth a punt if we short at CB.
• Abo Eisa - another 100%. Goal scoring winger.

The only thing I don’t want us to repeat, is signing sick note players in the hope they’ve made a miraculous recovery. We somehow have the ability to turn minor injuries (at the moment), into long term ones. Unless we heavily invest in the physio and recovery department, I wouldn’t entertain anyone who hasn’t completed at least 80% of the last 2 seasons. I’m glad Sparks mentioned something similar recently.

 

Tom Clarke looked immense v Tranmere but he's 39.

I think anyone who could separate professionalism from ability won't find this too surprising.

Ultimately, he overreached and tried to play Championship football because he could lump the ball long with decent accuracy. However, effort, work rate, mental strength, professionalism and resilience weren't there. Now he's been chewed up and spat out because like many weak minded players, he wasn't being babysat.

But like with Steve Evans, I imagine the fact he looked okay six years ago means some on here would give him a crack.

No thanks.

I’d take Tom Clarke all day long great experience but am sure he signed a 2 year deal at Salford last season? I’ve done a lot of work for him lives in northowram and he was on a very similar wage at Salford to Preston
