    See, that's where you're wrong.

Believe it or not, Clayton is only 36.

Apparently there is a manager down the chip shop, who thinks he is Elvis and could take us out of the Dark Ages! ;)

You want an experienced manager - how about Sam Allerdyce . He was on the Quest football show a week ago saying he was looking to get back into management and looking for a club with potential . He would certainly knock our squad into shape .

Everyone would take Allardyce, but there's a difference between Cowley going on Tele and saying he wants a club and Big Sam going on Tele and saying he wants a club.

Allardyce will have top end League One clubs falling at his feet, 22nd place Bradford City run by a chairman who doesn't care and a nice young chap CEO with no support probably isn't going to tick the 'potential' box right now.

See Parky has ruled himself out ! Amen to that I say ! He would have been a fool to sacrifice his legacy on the Rhodes to Nowhere !.

As for the other suspects throwing their two bob in ? Would not take any of them not with standing some of them are just unrealistic anyway ? So given our lack of leadership on the field I think this calls for a player-manager ! Someone of the like of Roy McFarland or Trevor Cherry who is not just stood inanimate on the sideline. A leader who can bring himself on and have influence on the pitch !. Perfect to get an experienced player and a new manager for the future at the same time. That would bring a player in now when we need one and be an additional player to add to the 4-5 we must recruit in January. That would be up to 6 players of influence arriving to take up the fight to survive.

So forget the names on the usual suspects list and lets bring in a current experienced player looking to take their first steps on the management ladder. Its on the pitch where we need to take some immediate action because these players are'nt capable of responding to a whole new set of instructions from the next fall guy on the touchline.

No offence to you personally, but it's suggestions like this that really make me worry about the idea of a fan-led club.

This idea hasn't worked for 20 years, you might like the concept, but surely it's better to appoint a manager who then appoints a captain who shares his philosophy.

I look at posts like this alongside the very real possibility of the requirement for a phoenix club and it's very concerning.

It would be Sooooooooo Bradford City to have tbe favourite to take the manager’s job someone who has been failure at every club he has managed in the football league, paul hurst

he failed at shrewsbury (badly) failed at ipswich (even worse) & failed again after that

why the heck is he favourite to get the job??

@Interested Bystander@Interested Bystander calls Big Sam "Hippo Head". It was mentioned on another thread last week that he might want a "project" involving a lower league club. It won't happen but if it did, well, I reckon it would change our course.

unfortunately you can probably class every candidate as failed as they all will have a few sackings and resignations under their belt, but what sets this guy apart to earmark him as favourite?

I would like us to chase John Coleman from Accy Stanley, Done wonders on nothing but young players he has spotted but keeps them in League one

I think we have to go for the manager we really want and if paying a bit of compo so be it.

It's time now to put football first.

Paul Cook would be the outstanding out of work candidate. However, we have little chance of tempting him here. He has already turned down other jobs, suspect he is waiting for at least a league 1 club to come knocking

Paul Hurst was a success at Grimsby got them promoted and a success at Shrewsbury, got them to the league 1 play off final which McCalls apostles all go on about with him. After losing the play off final he walked out and joined Championship Ipswich and he did fail there.

Would love Paul Cook but he’s already turned down money bags Salford and even his old mate from Wigan Mr Sharpe couldn’t tempt him to Mansfield. He will be waiting for a decent championship club.

    Then failed badly at Scunny.

Paul Hurst is one of them that we should have got years ago but not now.
