I think you right there are still players at the club we would as fans be more than happy to get rid off and not miss them, unfortunatly unless you are going to bring players in to replace those you want out of the door the squad would be even smaller.
At our level you dont carry back ups in every position as you know we have a few in the squad who can play several positions so unfortunatly we have the dross to contend with, reading between the lines I think we will get two (hopefully) Premiershop loans in and fill in with possibly 2 more squad players.
Or do we wait and hope the likes of Hiwula dont get clubs and hope he lowers his demands.

 

i think you ensure you have a strong core and someone for every position at least. For me we still have no first choice right back if we want to play 4 at the back. No DM if we go that way. And we know our options upfront don’t look like they can last the season.

So get those positions above nailed down and if someone a bit special becomes available late in the day due to them not getting a club you ask the chairman to push the boat out a little bit for him. We are however doing it all the wrong way round at the minute and will be left taking whatever we can come the window closing

Very few at our level carry a squad that can duplicate every position, you have players who can play other positions when required and that should include players being able to play the formation the manager wants.

 

Yeah I know that. I was saying we at the minimum need one person for every position. At the minute I’d say we don’t

4 more would give you that luxury of covering all bases but I cant see 4 coming in.

 

I've never been a fan of hanging on for potential signings, in the event they don't get fixed up, so are forced to lower their demands. If a player says "no", then move on. A player who joins as a last resort is signing for the wrong reasons.

 

I think to be fair to Stuart he's inherited a very weak squad, even after the departures of the summer, and there are still several players that I'd guess most of us would get rid of were it possible. For me that would be Hornby, Longridge, POC, AOC, BRE, French, Pritchard, Ismail, Novak, Guthrie, Donaldson, Clarke and DMH. The terrible recruitment of recent times is there for all to see, but unfortunately Stuart signed two on that list himself and I can't see the situation on that front improving under his tenure.

 

I see old Stuart is waiting for the phone to ring again. When will we learn! Club needs a complete overhaul top to bottom!

 

Genuine question: anyone reckon if Abbo was in his Head of Recruitment role in the current regime that we'd be better off? I think he carried the can for a lot of ER's interference last time. If he was here now in that role, working with Stuart and JR/SR basically just giving them a budget, I think we'd be in a much stronger position than we currently are.

 

I agree my comment was more with regards the loanees, Stuart made it quite plain we can only wait until the parent club allow them to leave, I would hope Stuart has identified the young loans and is happy to wait their arrival as he knows what they can bring to the squad.
The comment with regards Jordy was that Jordy could wait for a better offer nd not recieved one and finish up lowering his expectations, but if the loans are here, Iwould think another striker might be pushing it, that's of course if any of the loans are strikers which most see to believe is the case.

Thing is if Stuart has identified these young loans and approached their club, he obviously believes they are worth waiting for, if he gave back word it could be the last time that particular club deal with us.
Of course getting your full squad in during the early preseason training is better but I'm hoping as above Stuart believes the loans are worth the wait.
