I most of these rumours with a touch of salt. I don't recall Stuart saying they have any players on trial or in mind during his interview last night. All I heard, was that the club are not sitting on their laurels and they are trying to find players to come to the club.

I wouldn't read anything into that. He was so mad, he was tripping over his words quite a bit. "Twenty goals a season striker" was especially difficult for him to say, so much so, he changed it to "Fifteen goals a season striker"

I'm not sure why you think he will suddenly become a goal machine in league 2, where the service he is going to be getting won't be as good as what he was getting in the championship and league 1. if he wasn't capable of banging them in with better service, I'm not convinced he's going to be any better at a lower league level with worse service. If he signs then obviously I hope I'm proved massively wrong but right now, I can't see what he offers us that we don't already have.

Just a thought, with the situation at macclesfield is there anyone in that squad who would be worth a punt to sign? Even if there contracted we could surely get them cheap

In his younger age im assuming he would have more pace on him. Even if he is a 2nd choice striker he would be a more than suitable replacement for a 36 year old Donaldson. Who is 9 years his junior.
