I think he had already made his mind up before Stuart got to talk with him, but yes we should have said you can go if Tranmere come up with a transfer fee, even as a token gesture.
Let's hope Vaughan had some balls and told Stuart at the time he was not looking to return and play again for Bradford City, Stuart relaid this back to Julian & Stefan and we have a replacement lined up, be that a fee involved or a season long loan for a striker.

Gutted with this, it made more economic sense to keep Vaughan and his contract as only his average would count for two more years.
Would not surprise me if his new contract will be for less than he is on here.

Why we didn’t get on the phone to Tranmere before the cap and say we want rid you want him, make us an offer and we will consider it. it doesn’t wash with me at all. When we did our contract negotiations with players a few months ago for June, Vaughan would have been on that list for me. Get him in and say what happened last season is gone do you want to be here? That way we had time before any cap came in and before anyone spent big on wages in their budget. Clubs would have made Vaughan a priority signing so would have room in the budget, much like spearing.
But instead we waited until August 11th to decide he wasn’t in it? Absolute embarrassment. We knew he didn’t want to be here!! Ask him the question and feel him out. He hasn’t come up with this over night.

 

I was told he wanted to go but also wanted the club to honour the 2 years left on his contract, reading this article he might have got part of his way.

In a way I'm not bothered he's gone, the bloke can stink a place out with his negative body language, it's just the way we do things that never changes. Sparks and McCall giving it the biggun about wanting him and that he doesn't have to leave for financial reasons even though its pretty common knowledge he was gonna go. Turns out his tweets regarding Tranmere were true. Behind the scenes this club is an utter joke.

 

Then - nice one City we either impact the planned additions squad recruitment or try and attract a decent striker on far inferior terms than Vaughan was on? Again we give a side in our league a leg up you could not make it up and the quality in our squad has taken a backward step.
