If this is what negotiating the 'easiest trade deal in history' (as one prominent Brexiter described it) looks like, thank goodness it wasn't described as being a difficult one!

Don't worry Boris, the EU needs us more than we need them!

People blaming Brexit and the folk who voted for it are missing the point. At no point when I voted for it (only second time I've voted in 30 years) did I vote on the previso that the well paid government officials were not up to the task of implementing what we were voting on.
And it still boils down to the fact that they never ever thought that the British public would vote for such a thing. I'm now changing my mind, not because I necessarily disagree with leaving, I still think there are advantages to it, but I cannot trust a government who plainly incompetent and immoral to actually get anything right anymore. And with that in mind we might as well stay as we are.

Trouble is we have a civil service who are largely against Brexit and it shows in our weak preparations and lack of enthusiasm to plan, The old saying "Fail to plan means plan to fail " springs to mind.
Boris and his mate are trying to remove the blockages but it can be almost impossible with gold plated contracts at the top, The First Division Union is very powerful and believes it has the right to run the country with politicians largely put up with but rarely respected and expendable when required

There are many false claims going around, Peter Bone rubbished the leaked letter from Liz Truss, he had am an answer for every question asked, even Hilary Benn couldnt disagree on much of what he said.

Jesus. Are you Dominic Cummings in disguise? You're obsessed by the Civil Service. It's not the Civil Service that got us into this mess, it's the Tory Party. As with the pandemic, they make bold statements and promises, but have no grasp of the detail and complexities of making them happen. This is Johnson's stock in trade and always has been - promise big and worry about the details later. They are the most incompetent government in living memory, by a country mile.

If Trump loses in November then a trade deal with the USA is years away (thank goodness, considering the disaster it is shaping up to be). Joe Biden thinks Brexit was an idiotic idea and has clearly stated that it will be well down his list of priorities.

We are falling out in lumps with China over Hong Kong. So don't look for an early trade deal there.

Other big economies like India and Brazil are up to their eyeballs in Covid 19 and we'll be miles away from their priority issues.

Add in the massive unpreparedness highlighted by Liz Truss and we are going to be adrift on a sea of WTO tariffs with no one interested in helping us out.

Not obsessed but having some experience of the poor standards the civil service provides they are even criticised by senior Politicians as not fit for purpose in large areas and a large percentage would struggle to hold down a job in private industry.
As for a trade deal with our largest trading partner as a country the USA it would be nice to do a trade deal but not a problem if it does not happen, The tariffs involved are not huge, I buy some goods from the USA and the general tariff is between 2.5% and 3.5% not a deal breaker and on smaller amounts it is zero

So that's what Brexit was really about .. and new blue passports (designed in France by a Dutch company and manufactured in and Poland) of course.

I can't fault your honesty on this.

Just noticed Andrzej Duda has been reelected in Poland with a majority of 51.2% - 48.8%. Just to be clear on how a vote works, the guy with 51.2% has won. Good news for Poland, not so good news for the EU.

To be fair to the British public they told the politicians year after year they were not happy with mass immigration, When at last they were forced in to action by UKIP and asked the EU for help to change some of the rules and they refused the die was set and Brexit was almost a certainty

That's as may be about British public opinion but what you posted was seemingly a very personal view. Let's just stick to your own personal view rather than deflect anything.

When you refer to keeping riff raff out of the UK, are you referring to EU citizens from Holland or Sweden or France or Germany? Or maybe from Poland or Rumania or Bulgaria?

Or are yoiu referring to riff raff from non EU countries such as Canada or Australia? Or maybe from non EU countries sucs as Turkey or the Indian sub-continent or south east asia? Or do you mean riff raff from Syria or Afghanistan or other conflict zones? I've no idea how far you extend your definition of stopping riff raff coming into the UK but it would be interesting to hear how you and others who share your views define the term 'riff raff'.

Criminals, Fraudsters, Rapists, Murderers, Thieves, Terrorists, Those wishing to take advantage of our benefits system who only take from our society and offer nothing to this country but grief and misery and who under EU laws we find it hard to refuse entry to even if known criminals, Being allowed entry to this country is a privilege and as such those granted to come here should add to our wealth and society.
