Can I ask a hypothetical question?
If you knew for certain that leaving with No Deal would be severely damaging to our economy for, let's say, at least five years, would you still be in favour of it rather than delaying to try to get a compromise deal?
In other words, is leaving under any circumstances more important to you than the economic impact?

I know you'll say that I might be wrong about the economics. That's correct - it might not be as bad as I think it will be, but that's not the point. I'm interested in whether you think stopping free movement, leaving EU rules, regaining Ng sovereignty etc are more important to you than the economic aspects of leaving.

I assume this is for me Steve or is it an open question for us leavers ?.

If we can't reach a satisfactory deal with the EU then of course there would be little point in hanging around to try and broker a compromise it's been ongoing now for nearly 4 years enough is enough, and yes you could be very wrong.

Boris actually voted against May's deal as well. This whole issue is also causing issues with our own political union, especially in Ireland

this is another reason why for me no deal is a bad idea. its got potential to flare the ireland situation up big time to the point we'll start seeing violence again. The tories have shown at the best a complete disinterest in Ireland since they've been in government, so I don't have much faith they'll have any ability to calm tensions down if/when they continue to rise.

So is that a Yes then? Even if you knew that No Deal would be economically damaging you would rather leave with that in December than give it more time to try to reach a mutually beneficial economic deal.

There's been 4 years already , how many more years - 2- 5 - 20 ?. The EU have never been in this position before , they brow beat desention by asking for vote after vote after vote , they don't like democracy .

That is a myth promoted by certain newspapers for their own purposes. Most referenda which have been organised on membership of the EU or continuation of membership of the EU or ratification of the various treaties or the EU's constitution or the euro have not been re-run at the behest of the EU. Most have come to a democratic conclusion and that's been the end of it from the various countries' perspective. A few promised referenda have been promised and not run by the respective country but that shouldn't be laid at the EU's door. That was a matter for the particular country, including our own.

This is about as comprehensive as it gets on listing all of the various countries' referenda and the results. It paints a very different picture when compared to the one you portray

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Referendums_related_to_the_European_Union

There is no evidence that the EU 'browbeats desention' as you've described it

It is interesting but as far as I can see it gives results of referendums but gives no indication of whether votes were re run to get the result in this chart, For example both the French and ROI votes are recorded as passed but there is no mention they were re run to achieve that result, It does show that after votes were lost in one country other countries decided not to continue to run votes they had promised which may just be coincidence or pressure from the EU mandarins

Of course it's a yes if a deal cant be negotiated, what's the point of allowing it to go on longer, why would you think a better deal could be mutually acceptable?, the EU have made there last offer it's not acceptable we leave.

Agreed , this is dragging on too long . Fed up of the delays to be fair . The remainers are clutching at straws , even greenpeace have got involved , they want the Giant " hoover trawlers " of the Dutch French and Spannish fishing fleets banning from the channel and North sea . They expected the UK to capitulate and either call another referendum ( as a lot of countries did or bowed to pressure ) or the Torys to lose tha last election , they want the UK to remain for our fiscal imput only , to prop up the 19 member states that take out but put nothing in . The French and Germans will have to fund this shortfall , i can't see many Eastern members liking the Brussels cash point closing and having to contribute .

Are there still voters out there who believe the longer this is being pushed back there will be a more acceptable deal, yet they are saying the EU are not going to give us a good deal which most realise.
The situation is very different we now have a government who WILL leave with no deal, it would be good to get an acceptable deal but they keep flogging the "close alliance" comment and although the EU want our fishing waters I'm sure we could negotiate quotas for the countries that fish them at the moment but they dont come as a freeby.

The Irish referendum shows that there were two on ratification of the Treaty of Nice. The second was a re-run of the first after more assurances were provided. I don't know about France holding two referenda on the same issue. And they are the exception. The vast majority of referenda on the EU don't necessitate a re-run.

What the table shows that there hasn't been lots of re-runs because the first provided the 'wrong' result despite what was postred on here. The facts show that the notion of having lots of re-runs is simply a myth put about my one or two newspapers and then regurgitated without the facts being questioned or checked.

Which disproves the PM's lie that the UK would save £350mill a week from leaving the EU! It's a little over half of that figure. Of course, anybody who thought about it, already understood the reality.

Which proves we are funding the 19 member states . Lets see what happens to the Eastern members and even Belgium when the funding stops .

Brexit has nothing really to do with the economy the uk are going to lose out over that. Its all about anti immigration.
Take fishing for example 60% of fish caught by the British are exported to the E.U. If custom duty is placed on that it will dry up. Further more if E.U. Based trawlers are banned from British waters the french will block the ports bringing Dover to standstill
Then we have the city of London and the financial market which is going to be at risk. Brexit always has been a mad idea a no deal Brexit at this moment of time will be financial suicide

Not sure you're correct with regards your immigration comment, the vast majority of immigrants coming to the UK are not from member EU countries they are mostly from the Indian sub continent and the government could have reduced that as and when ever they wanted unlike the free movement of EU citizens.
There will always be a deal to broker with regards fishing it's just a matter of getting a balance and we will have the say on that and what quotas each country can take.
