'A leech'? FFS, do you seriously think he's deliberately swinging the lead and intentionally putting the rest of his career down the toilet? I don't know what the problem is, but I'm bloody certain he'd rather have been playing than out all this time.

And exactly how do we go about getting rid? He's got a contract until the end of the season and he's under no obligation to accept an early pay off.
Even if we could pay up his contract that would count on our wage bill so it wouldn't free up any funds for other players. So what's the point?
We might as well see out his contract and then say goodbye, assuming he doesn't get fit to play beforehand, which seems unlikely.

 

With regards to groin injuries that won't keep you out of the game for 2 years...

An AFL footballer has been out for pretty much 2 years with a case of osteitis pubis that is not showing any signs of getting better yet. Joe Daniher is the players name, he did come back for a few games this year after missing almost all of last season because of the groin issue he has, however he broke down again and was not able to play for the rest of the season missing close to 16 games (in a 22 game season).

In that story it gives a bit of an idea of what osteitis pubis can do to a player, with regards to having to strength in the leg for running and kicking etc...

Now, I am a very long way from being a professional footballer, but I lost about 18 months of playing because of this, came back for a month and bang it was back, I hung up the boots after that.

I'm not saying that this is what he has got, but for someone to say a groin strain won't keep you out for 2 years isn't allowing for the fact that it is more than a strain but a underlying groin/pelvis stability issue.

 

I hope Reeves doesn’t read that.....

Well that is the only information we have been given by the club. If they'd not been so damn coy and secretive about the situation then fans wouldn't be speculating and getting angered by the situation, would they?

Can't believe that Nova meets didn't ask the question on the pointless video he did at the team photo day? Informal scenario, didn't have to go into asking what is exactly wrong with him. Could've just said when we expecting you back Jake? Open question which Reeves could answer as much information as he wanted. Really strange situation.

As I've already said to someone else on this thread if Reeves wants to keep his his own personal medical situation personal then he has every right to keep it private between him and the club and we have no right to ask for it.

Sometimes you don't need to be told the blatantly obvious like in this situation that it's more than a minor groin injury you just use common sense. Also he had surgery on his groin so that shows anyone with the slightest bit of common sense that it isn't minor.

 

A tad melodramatic there. It's hardly something to get worked up about. Unless you are Jake Reeves of course.
