I'd have agreed before Saturday but out of the four who played, an out of position Riley looked the best of the lot.

I know it's only a 45 minute fitness builder but if everyone has a clean slate as promised then he's as much of a shout of contributing as anybody.

Thing is, Riley was excellent at guiseley last year too so I just don't think he has the mentality to play professional football.

The name 'Donaldson' does not appear.

I describe 'Doyle' as a coaster.

 

That may be the case but considering we're paying him I'm just hoping he can contribute something if we can't move him on.

 

My apologies. The comment was about Scannell crossing for Donaldson to head home and I said you have discounted both already ;meaning Scannell crossing) and Doyle.

I agree you haven’t questioned Donaldson but he can’t score from a Scannell cross, if the latter is ‘coasting’.

I personally don’t see Robinson playing for City again, or if he does I can’t see him making an impact. Reeves has been out for longer but he’s been in and been training when he can and has the best part of 200 league games behind him. Robinson might be keeping himself fit, but he’s presumably not been playing any football for 11 months. He’s 22 in two months with two dozen games behind him and a contract to the end of the season. If the charges are dropped or his case goes to court and he’s acquitted I wouldn’t be surprised to hear him released by mutual consent.

 

I’m happy to give everyone a clean slate. If Riley, Gibson and other players who failed to produce last season are still here for the start of the season and have featured throughout the preseason that implies Bowyer has some level of faith in them for the coming season.

Some players just can’t deal with certain managers or situations. Hopefully Bowyer is able to create an environment where they can contribute something. Last season was a disaster from start to finish so it should just be forgotten and everyone given a fresh start IMO.

 

He's always looked like he has an attitude problem IMO. Sulks when things don't come off for him then goes missing.

 

Why?
Based on his performances before suspension he has real talent. He's incredibly quick, has a decent engine to get up and back, has a decent shot on him and is still young.
From what I've seen of him he's easily capable of playing in L1 and should rip most L2 defenders a new one.

It'll take him a bit of time to recover full fitness but less time than you'd expect with any player that's been out for a long time with a serious injury. If charges are dropped or he's acquitted, I can see no logical reason that the club would choose to lose such a potential asset. He's an exciting talent and I would love to see him back playing for us if circumstances permit.

 

I wouldn't totally count O'Connor out at this stage - the guy did some moronic things last season but overall the whole year was a disaster zone. So many things were just so toxic. I have heard he has been impressive in training (both playing wise and attitude) and I am happy for GB to make a call on this one - I hark back to a cold, difficult game at Wycombe I saw last season and O'Connor really stood up that day (in my eyes).
If GB can move him on I wont be losing sleep but something makes me think there is a footballer in there and perhaps he is the type of character and has a demeanour that needs a bit of stability and positivity around him (which was never there last season bar a few weeks before Xmas)
I know many will shoot this down and say he has burnt all his bridges and it is difficult to argue with this viewpoint - as I say its just a hunch
