I wouldn’t be surprised to see 2 different line ups and not necessarily anything like what we will see come August. It’ll be more about giving players some minutes, even if not in their natural positions.

TBF, I wasn’t the one that started a thread and added “Will be interesting to see what lineup we will go with”. What we were supposed to reply with if not the obvious?

I think there will be a lot less trialists than of recent years. If any at all.

What makes you say that? We're still well short in terms of first XI and the squad so why would we not have a look at a few free agents in the hope of picking up a bargain?

Wasn’t July 1st the day when players get released? Must be a lot of non contacted players out there.

Can't wait to read what the T&A sport experts think of our new signings after seeing them for 45 minutes in a purely for fitness game.

Unless some of those on existing City Contracts leave, then I guess the budget must be close to being allocated to the players we have on the books. So would there be much point. I would have thought trialists would be looking to play where there was a real opportunity of gaining a contract.

Even if the budget is nearly full and we're waiting for players to move out that doesn't mean we shouldn't continue to look at players. Even more so with free agents, I'd have thought given the transfer deadline restrictions.

I'd expect to see a few free agents turning out in these games and also training with us, if only to just have a look.

I would anticipate that 'higher' quality free agents would be more likely to go on trial to clubs where they would be able to get a good contract and game time. If we have very few slots and spare cash, then l would have thought that would act as a deterrent. In respect of the transfer window, l thought that did not apply to free agents. We brought in Caddis after the transfer window closed last season.

Train from Steeton to Shipley then change for Guiseley. The ground is a short walk from the station.
I'm planning on going on the train with the rest of the Long Preston supporters club plus maybe my mate who lives in Steeton

That's the point I'm making? Have a look at them now and if we don't manage the targets we wanted before the deadline then some of these lads could be good fall back options if they are still available.

Otherwise we'd have to bring them in to have a look before we decided if they are with a contract offer or not.

Higher quality free agents don’t go on trial
