I get where he is coming from and Bowyer will have to improve some of the players he has but a player has to want to improve.

In the case of Patrick he is just sh@te or it would seem to me off the back of a few games he thought he had made it and so did the club.

If you do realise you need or want to improve then you won't.

Bradford City need to rid of their mistake and get him off our books.

Yes its a very silly thing to do to criticise the fans, and also to criticse your fellow players unless you're one of the few players playing consistantly well.

I appreciate your sentiment but some players are past any help and Patrick is one of them. If he hadn't been given that stupid 3yr deal he'd have been playing part time football now because of that's the extent of his ability sadly. It might sound harsh but it's most likely true.

Gibson however, clearly has talent but the mental side of his game is dreadful, but the foundations are there for Bowyer to work with him if Gibson himself is up for it.

But Patrick? Sorry but he's got nothing to his game, just pace which more often than not is pointless as he forgets to take the ball with him.

You have to have the basics to compete at any level of sport. From what i've seen of Patrick his feet don't seem wired to his brain at times, which is kind of a problem when the sport involves kicking a ball. He's not the only one i've seen over the years, theres a fair few players i've seen who seem to suffer with the basics of the game like ball control. Pretty inexcusable if its your job but i regularly see players leaving academies looking like they've only just started playing.

Those players with more than 2 brain cells never criticise fellow players, regardless of how they themselves are playing. You are in no position to judge others as it is a team game, only the manager and coaches can see an overall view on performance.

If Bowyer has spoken to him and is prepared to have him as part of the team, then I will go with that as he is in a much better position than any of us to assess both his performance and attitude. Personally I don’t want to hear anything from AOC this season, all I want to see is him getting his head down and working his socks off.

Isn't this though a reflection of social media and the pack mentality? Perceived injustice on the part of a player and people cannot leave it be because they haven't got anything better to do.

I think about players in the past who haven't necessarily been the best or met player expectations. Perhaps a Jason Gavin or a Nicky Mohan. They might not have a great game on a Saturday, but without social media they can just get on with being a footballer during the week and play on a Saturday.

Now we get various rumours etc throughout the week and players viliified. Not having a go at you, just showing my age and distaste for an aspect of life I don't enjoy.

AOC is Bradford City player. Last season was an absolute mess for myriad reasons. I genuinely believe, if he is here at the start of the season, we should back him as he will hopefully be playing football in a much more conducive environment.

Without doubt I prefer the talking to be done on the pitch.

I don't think it is, it happened at Aberdeen and that wasn't a pack mentality it was just a player disregarding a club and it's fans. Why should any fan put up with that, after all they are the folk paying the lion share of a players wage.

My opinion isn't about social media, although there's not usually smoke without fire, it's more about what I saw from him on the pitch. I don't like his attitude or the fact he was part of one of the poorest defences I've seen regardless of the circumstances off the pitch.

I just think he clearly has form for a bad attitude.

I disagree. As captain, I’d expect him (or anyone wearing the armband) to encourage those around him. And if he sees players on the pitch not putting in the desired effort, he should bollok them

Where I do agree is that he shouldn’t be spouting his mouth off to the press about it.

Omari Patrick is one of the worst players I've ever seen play for City.

and you telling him on Twitter probably won't help his confidence.

Whether he stays or goes on loan or permanently will be a good guide to how good he is according to Bowyer. I don't really see a future for him any higher than League 2, he may find his level this year or he may just have a very short football career.

I agree, Wayne, yet also with @Onside@Onside as I think it was the 'media' quotes Mrs O was referring to. ;)

I don't think he's awful, I just don't think he's that good or may be consistent would be a better word.

He's like the kid that you played with at school or sunday league who could do 50 kick ups, roll the ball across his shoulder and back heels it but then falls over the cone when doing dribbling drills.

There are different styles of captaincy, I expect them to organise the team, and encourage the players, but I personally think individual bollockings have to come from the manager and preferably in private. However @RonnieBrown@RonnieBrown was right I was particular referring to calling team members out in the press. I also do not think AOC is not a leader.

Nicky Mohan was light years ahead of Jason Gavin and I can't believe you can't lump them both together as examples.

You'd have been more accurate lumping Gavin in with someone like Zesh Rehman.
