Bowyers interview clearly stating its cost cutting, the stark realisation that we are just another run of the mill league 2 club now hitting home. Thats not to say we can't have a decent season but lets not kid ourselves, it will make Bowyers job a lot harder, something which he is already alluding to. I guess 13,000 dirt cheap flexi and season tickets doesn't make a huge difference to the budget of an ambitious club, that has to come from the owner.

Difference is Hopkin was alllowed to spend big wages on the likes of Payne and Butterfield, and still couldnt turn things around.

Bowyer is going to have to do it Parky style, moulding a team of free transfers on relatively low wages

@Jason McKeown@Jason McKeown Bowyers comments make it sound this is far far from being mutual.

Please explain yourself in more detail because the main man(Bowyer) himself is basically saying it is down to cost.

Isn't it time you digged more into Mr Rupp's and Mr Rhodes what the real intentions, vision, direction for the club as I am concerned that the club are making excuses already. Bowyer basically saying we're shocked by agents fees and non league clubs having more than us.

It's shocking, it's embarrassing and it's not a time to be all matey matey with people.. it's time for the truth.

Mr Rupp isn't proving himself so far is he? Or we all going to keep blaming Edin forever.

Yeah, wonder why he's not coming out and saying hey, we're Bradford City, we're loaded, quote us as much as you like, we'll pay through the roof? Can't understand it myself.

Rubbish, it's the same comments we get every year about how expensive players are, how managers are shocked by the going rate for quality, how we can't compete with villages with a few thousand people in, it's embarrassing.

    Seriously, is this a joke?

So, you think getting rid of a coach he didn't want to get rid of is a statement.

Haven't you learnt anything? These are near enough the same words that Hopkin said.

Why would a experienced manager be shocked by agent quotes? He's only shocked because we can't afford to pay and have a low budget.

It would not surprise me one bit if agents approaching City quoted a higher fee etc than they would with other clubs. Its entirely plausible that GB is shocked at the figures he is being quoted as they may well be much higher than he has previously experienced.
As for affording to pay well we had £4 million last season and that went well didn't it?
Of course we now have a lower budget as we got relegated. That always happens.

Very worrying as there will be a world of difference between "agents quotes" in L1 and L2
And if we are struggling to match that then the future is very bleak
Mr Rupp needs to either show he means business and give us a serious budget to compete or mov on and let someone else have a go

I've no idea what the club's finances are and I don't pretend to bit there's no club in this league or any other who want to give the impression that they are willing to pay over the odds.

I don't know that there's as much to be made of bowyer's words as some are making out. We have heard this a million times before, not just in the last few years, but in many previous. It's called managing expectations rather than spouting rubbish about making it to the Premier League.

Reading this thread yesterday there was room for doubt. Today's T&A story leaves none. To deny the manager his chosen right hand man is a foolish mistake. How much would Todd be on? I wouldn't think more than £!,000 a week. "Spoiling the ship for a ha'porth of tar". Bowyer's task has got harder already.

If a player is sold the club correctly and wants to play for BCFC then he will ensure he gets what wants regardless of any agents outrageous demands any player willing to sign for a L2 club is obviously looking to launch/ relaunch his career and we should be an attractive proposition in L2
If we had a 4 Million budget last year it says more about the person in charge than anything else that we finished bottom but remember that was last year and agents aren't daft enough to think it will be the same scenario this year

I have been plunged into relegation depression again! However, what did our top 4 budget get us last season. It isn’t all about money, it is important, but I would rather have lads who actually want to play football for City. Nevertheless, plans for the club cost nothing, instigating them does, but the communication from City is abysmal, it is like a communication desert! Plus we have just been relegated, where is the apology, explanation, a desire to bounce straight back or stabilisation, right at this moment in time, I have absolutely no idea where we are going, of course I want to get back to league 1, but no idea.

If you want to establish good bonds with fans, there needs to be good communication with the fans on what our aspirations are as a club.

There is a release relating to the Beer Festival. I wrote this last week after meeting Ian and Keith Taylor at the ground.

But releases have to be planned and considered in the wider context. After the season we've had and the date of the remembrance service, it was not appropriate to do it this week.

I agree that if a player really wants to play here then he will accept the clubs wage structure.

Sorry but I don't understand your first sentence. The agents fees are part of the signing of the deal aren't they?

This idea that if we pretend we're actually skint then a club might in some way take pity on us is quite amusing. They know what we've got to play with.

That huge budget only ended up with is in tears because it was spent by someone who didnt have the foggiest about what they were doing. If thatd have been spent by PP or indeed Bowyer, I'd like to think the story of our season would have been a lot different
