I don’t have any particular preference for any of the managers mentioned. I personally do not think any of them can revive our fortunes this season. All managers have faults, what is required is that fans grit their teeth during the bad times. We need to stabilise, and therefore need a manager who has the credentials to do just that.

Thought just occurred to me while reading this thread and associated links. Evans might be a good fit at Notts County. Both him and the county chairman like to show their willy's to people.

And Parky inherited Nahki Wells, who IMO was better than anything Bowyer inherited or signed at Blackpool. Id still have Parky back in a heartbeat though.

Claiming that appointing Bowyer is negative because he is associated with lifting Blackpool out of the shit is a bit like saying that you dont want an experienced surgeon operating on your cancerous tumor because that other guy he operated on had a much worse tumor than yours and you dont want people thinking your some kind of pussy who needs expert help fighting a malignant tumor.

Opting for Nolan is IMO settling for mediocrity, he is a nearly man who has never quite achieved what he set out to achieve in his managerial career. Im sure that will excite some people though.

I am a bit the same Onside, it is difficult to pick one over another right now. We have to remember that where we are at present we are only going to get a manager with a somewhat chequered history, unless we go for a 'higher league' novice as one or two have not unreasonably suggested - I just dont think the timing is right for this with the predicament we are in

Because Bowyer has had the experience of getting a club promoted, I believe that will be a big plus for any applicant no matter who, it may not be Bowyer that's only my opinion but we need to be interviewing on Monday with a hope of choosing the right candidate Thursday at the latest, I know they are all big games from now until the end of this season and that starts with Posh on Saturday quickly followed with League leaders Luton on Tuesday.

I'm sure we will have had several applicants who as you point out we should/could be interviewing today, as they say "Time is of the Essence".
Of the 50+ applicants many will be put to one side as they won't even be considered.

have some of you guys been sniffing glue, Kevin Nolan ffs what has he even done as a manager? He was a decent clogger targetman at PL level which in no way qualifies him for anything managerial unless he plans on sticking himself up front. To my knowledge hes done nothing but fail as a manager yet apparently hes a great shout

And you question other posters, he was a very good midfielder for Bolton Wanderers and went on to be a very popular midfield player at both Newcastle and West Ham.

Agreed but I just don't think Nolan is the right guy for the job. I get the tough talking hes a prick and will sort em out thing but so was Hopkin and look how that worked out.

All in all I'll support whoever gets the job provided its a long term appointment and we start to build again. One positive I think we all forget sometimes (myself v much included) is that EDINS GONE PEOPLE. Once we get rid of these useless wage thieves I'm actually fair optimistic as we'll have a clean slate to start again from.

I really wish they would have some self respect rather than just looking up to the manager. Quite a lot of successful teams the players self managed a lot of issues

That means absolutely nothing with regards to his managerial ability. Zola was a truly gifted forward but an awful manager. Sarri's never even been a pro footballer yet manages at the v highest level. Previous playing experience is helpful but in no way a good indicator of how good a manager they can be.

Think there is only one way to sort them out and it is going to cost. We need a sugar daddy wealthy enough to let them sit their contracts out and rot. I am not bitter.

I was quoting your call with regards Nolan being a target man, whilst accusing fellow posters of glue sniffing ;).

I know it's stating the obvious, we need someone with experience of getting promotion from league 2.
