Not wading through all the messages in the thread, but perhaps for balance:

Shrewsbury - played pretty well and won.
Barnsley - outplayed but to a side just down from the Champ.
Macclesfield - cup game, anything can happen. Played OK, nothing special, lottery of penalties.
Southend - outplayed and out thought.

Summary - too early to make a judgement. Need to give it 10 games in my view, although 2 home games on the trot are very important.

Burton won’t be easy (another side who have just come down), then Wycombe (just come up).

Going to be an interesting 7 days.

One thing I can’t abide though is the massive mood swings amongst fans. Delirium after Shrewsbury to slashing wrists two weeks later.

If he doesn't deserve the role, why on earth would he deserve time?

If you feel he's the wrong man, then stand by that view.

If you hired a guy to cut your lawn and he shredded the first patch, would you insist he carried on just because you gave him the job???

As a point of principle, you have to accept he's right for the job in the first place to start insisting he gets more time,surely?

We're not playing 4-4-2 and our manager isn't one of the same old faces who get booted out of their latest post every couple of years, or someone famous who used to play for England and therefore an immediate managerial expert.

 

Don't kid yourself, we weren't that good at Shrewsbury, a draw would have been a fair result against a team struggling like ourselves. Outplayed by Barnsley but in truth we as much our own enemy in that defeat with the nonsensical way we set up, no one knew what the hell they were doing. i actually agree about the ten games but he has to realise sooner rather than later that certain players just ain't working and that you can't keep swapping and changing formation every half an hour. It makes your players look worse than what they actually are.

 

Fair points. The only reason I can think he is favouring Riley to start over Mellor is a fitness issue but then having said that, there are a fair few other players that still look like they are struggling with fitness too and that is a big worry, especially as there seems to be some uncertainty around whether we even have a fitness coach at the moment. The loan striker issue is definitely something that needs to be addressed, particularly in our next 2 games at home and I will be disappointed if he doesn't make that change. There are clearly issues around the players still not understanding the formations they are being asked to play in and their roles (and their teammates roles) within those formations and I guess that is where the 'clicking' part will come in. I understand and share the frustrations and concerns that are being expressed but we've only played 3 league games so far and I think it is far too early to be writing off the players and the manager so early into the season.

 

Early days yet, but come on the only reason Edin will persist with Collins as head coach is because he appointed him to the head coaches position, some will say because others who applied would not toe the party line and let our co-owner have his say in things football.
Unfortunately Collins will become one of your above statistics before the end of this season.

 

Shrewsbury - played ok. Got battered in large parts and thanks to some abysmal finishing from shrews we got the win.

Barnsley - outclassed from start to finish. Toothless and bullied off of the ball in every position. Unacceptable performance whoever the opposition.

Macclesfield - stupid pre match comments from collins led to get another toothless performance against far weaker opposition. Couldn't finish our dinner so what does he do? Swaps a striker for someone impersonating a striker.

Southend - second best in every department, baffling tactics and players out of position coupled with a "head coach" who spent his time with his head down wandering in and out of the dugout.

Summary - I'd give him time if I saw the team playing with plenty of effort and a plan. Sadly we have a bunch of individuals playing without a plan, a shape and any idea of their roles and responsibilites.

 

When are people allowed to be worried? . When we are 10 - 15 points off the pace ?
. Most supporters can see the writing on the wall after only 3 games .

To be fair it was a surprisingly encouraging start against Shrews but sadly things appear to be quickly descending into the predicted shambles.

There's absolute no doubt that big changes were need after last seasons debacle. But appointing a rookie coaching team to preside over an entirely new squad and expecting it all to instantly come together is a massive ask. It takes time for things to work and steps back are probably inevitable.

There's no question that in recent years some serious hard work on all counts has gone into moving the Club forward. Worryingly this now this looks increasingly like being squandered and alongside which fans are clearly becoming evermore alienated against the Club.

For sure we are back in troubled waters at VP these days and l believe that next weeks two home games are now pivotal for MC. A minimum of 3pts might just be enough buy the coaching team some respite. Anything less and l suggest that ER must admit the project has been way too ambitious and look to correct the situation asap by: 1) Installing an experienced Coach/ Mgr, 2) Use the remaining loan window to bring in some true midfield leadership and a bloody goal scoring striker!!

 

Tell me how many home and away games you went to last season. When you can come back and say every one then I will let you tell me I dont care. Of course we care you bloody halfwit.

We interviewed TEN people for the manager's job, and appointed someone who didn't apply or show any interest in the role because he wasn't ever a serious contender.

It's not a coincidence.

Rahic could not agree terms with any of the ten candidates on how the club would be run, and, just as with Grayson (who left the club and would rather be unemployed than work at Bradford City (and who can blame him?)), no deal could be reached with any of them.

So we just employed someone who already worked here who had not impressed results-wise in his role as U18 coach or, again, even applied for the role.

I can almost understand a narrative that the club simply didn't feel any of the candidates were suitable, however we know that's not the case. The club wanted to keep Grayson, and Grayson turned us down. Furthermore, Collins was never, ever mentioned until he was appointed - why? He wasn't a contender for the role, even in his own eyes.

Let's not pretend Rahic had such clarity of vision that one day he woke up and thought "I know! Collins!"

Nobody wanted the job.
