No obviously about it Kev, the club said 'after a conversation' with the ref, the pitch was deemed playable. That suggests he hadn't even seen it at that stage. Maybe they sent him the same lush picture of the pitch they tweeted alongside the announcement and that's why he agreed there was no need for a pitch inspection.

Because the club announced there was no
Inspection planned. I don’t know the pitch like the back of my hand - they do.

maybe we should be fined for the heavy rain that has been around for months or for playing on the pitch when it was starting to freeze against liverpools kids, which is the root of this season's problem. some things are actually beyond our control and in the hands of the gods.

If there are hosepipe bans in summer, I will ignore and continue to use.

Mmm. You are ill advised digging when the soil is wet. Speaking for myself I follow the no dig method of vegetable gardening. It maintains the soil structure. Anyway enough of this, it should be in the vegetable section. I was just reinforcing the earlier comment about the volume of rain this winter.

Why not? The club can say to the ref, “We can all see rain moving in, we can see the forecast - when it rains the pitch will hold water, no doubt about it. So let’s call it now and think of the fans”.

    It’s been under
It’s been underfunded for so long and needs investment. Welcome any sanctions, it’s dangerous and it’s partly down to the environment but also the fact we’ve done nothing with it and just say the stock answers it’s not ours, we are homed in a valley… would you rather have x in the budget instead.

maybe i am in the minority but we need to find alternatives to maintaining the pitch outside of what we do.

How. Only 3 ways. Investment from the owner, or reduce playing budget or increase ticket price.
First will not happen, second would be a disaster, third might lead to less fans , which would bring the second.

Write a letter to rupp asking how much he’s willing to invest in a new pitch or to build a new ground

    Wimbledon 1-0 MK Dons.

Not the greatest start to the days result within the remaining fixtures. If Walsall and/or Gillingham win, we could be 8 points of the play offs tonight.

Too much imo irrespective of games in hand

And you think any buyer / owner would do the same when we don’t own the ground.??
Ditch VP and Gibb is the answer. Groundshare locally

Can’t wait for @wetherbywhaler@wetherbywhaler to come up with lame excuses for this one.

No, inspection planned say the club then it’s called off at the 11th hour. Shambles,

This club treats fans like shite.

The problem is whole the have improved they still aren't great. I was watching the Cincinnati match in the CONCACAF champions league and they play on the latest 4G pitch and the ball doesn't roll amazingly and starts to hold up. And while it no longer risks ripping players legs to pieces it does increase injury risk, especially as you get higher up the levels as the game gets quicker and players change direction quicker.

If you were going to commit to a new pitch you would maybe be better going for a hybrid setup, United had real issues for years with the pitch at OT, it's not the best draining pitch as the size of the stadium limits the airflow, they tried a load of things like improving the drainage and different types of grass but it wasn't until they put in a system where there are 4g type strands but in no where near the density and then soil is laid and grass planted, the grass then grows around the plastic strands making the grass way more robust so frost and just use had a harder time killing it and as the grass isn't killed as easily, the soil gets compared less and hence drains better. It's meant by the end of the season the old Trafford pitch has gone from one of the worst to regularly seeing us win win the groundsman of the year award

The only potential problem is the cost, I'm not sure what a full 4g setup cost is compared to a hybrid system. Maybe it's way more but if it's not much it may be worth it rather than risk more serious injuries.

When they won’t even make an investment to fix the hot water in the toilets do you expect such an investment in the pitch? I don’t disagree by the way, it’s terrible that, not just this club tbf but clubs can overpay for players and give them silly money for what they do but can’t invest in facilities that they are responsible for. Was it Rahic at a fans forum who said it was the players or the pitch, to words of that affect? Just about sums things up, it shouldn’t be a choice when fans are out of pocket as a result. Because the clubs and EFL certainly won’t reimburse them.
