Bizarre how the focus of the threat from the flanks has switched. Funny old game. Although Chappy was rediscovering his form, I don’t think he’s the answer?

Yes I appreciate your point, I would say that I never personally questioned Wright as he was the last one to arrive during a very busy transfer window. As I said earlier, I sincerely hope he proves me wrong but I cannot help feeling underwhelmed with this signing

Strange you reply to this message, and not the one I posted only 4 messages after this one (as below)....I want him to prove me wrong more than the most loyal City fan. I will gladly hold my hands up and say I was too quick to judge - will everyone else do the same if he turns out to be yet another Odusina or Abo Eisa??? We will see.......

I'm not sure about that. Most professionals nowadays can play a number of positions if need be

He’s definitely got some way to proving he might be the answer based on last season. However benefit of doubt, he wasn’t playing in his better position and looked much better in the few games we saw him out left before his injury.

Id expect decent competition in wide positions next season, so be disappointment if Chapman is our only option but happy if his form proves he is one of the first choices.

I'm sure they can but "can play" and "excels in" are two very different things and if we have too many "can plays" next season the whole team will look very, very average imo.

This is not as strange as you think. We are all still suffering disappointment from last season. It is hard to see where we are going with just one signing. I am not jumping for joy either, but I will not comment on his ability until he has played a few games. Let the trainers and our manager spread their influence. The helped, Banks, Wright, Cookie, Halliday, Gilleard, Lewis. Obviously others were beyond help, but we have to be patient, and I know we have been very patient.

This idea that players can play in multiple positions technically is correct, it's only a bloke kicking a ball innit? But, as we know football is very position specific and if a player gets the dreaded 'utility' or 'versatile' added to his CV you can pretty much guarantee he can't hold down a regular position due to not being good enough for a specific role. Hence Halliday is signed as a right back, Stubbs, Platt and Crichlow as centre backs. In fact you could go through our whole squad with the same principle, Hughes has a specific way he wants to play and players should be signed to fit that strategy. Hence why players such as Sutton, Foulds, FCD, Staunton have been moved to pastures new, all able to cover positions due to not been good enough to be a starter. We need starters in the squad not players who fill gaps

Man City has shown the way, with inverted this and that. No wonder not many can fathom out how to beat them.

Maybe this is a squad filler to help with a leaner squad. I reserve judgement but I'd be slightly meh if this is a bang on first team major signing

Cook wouldn’t have got a game here last season if Oliver had started the season fit and lived up to expectations.

Why ? We've signed a pretty much unproven left back and the other choice, Foulds, spent the last six months at "Arrogant" Town on loan. The way I see it, Foulds is the one whose off and Smelly Odour is back up to Rides.

Similar signing to the dud we signed from Rotherham on loan last season.

I'm not even sure this lad is seen as a left back from everything I've read. I think he's looked at as someone who might be able to fill in but we see him more as an attacking midfielder. Maybe even on the right so he can cut in like Banks used to.
