GR presided over 2 promotions during his tenure, giving those of us old enough the ride of our lives that we’ll never see again.
This was only surpassed in 2013.
Anyway, this club seems to have a promotion every decade ish so I think this might well be our year.

I see you conveniently dodged my question.

Perhaps you weren't that bothered about seeing PL football with you also being a Liverpool fan but for us, one club supporters, the PL was probably the absolute pinnacle, regardless of how it ended.

I’m flabbergasted at how many of our fans resent our time in the PL and believe it’s the root of our current problems.
If we look down the leagues and count how many former PL clubs are now in bottom 2 divisions.
Did they also have an equivalent GR who ruined their club?
Do those clubs fans regret being in the PL?
Also look at the Championship. 19 out of 24 clubs have been in the top flight, most have overspent and most will be millions in debt.

Not sure fans resent what we achieved it was something I'd never thought I'd see in my lifetime, but the two administrations did have an effect on our club that goes without saying both financially and with regards goodwill with local businesses etc.
The first season was like being kid a on Christmas morning wondering what it would be like to go to Old Trafford, Highbury, Stamford Bridge, Anfield and compete because we had earned the right to compete, after the first season it was never the same, we'd beaten the odds by staying up but doing it again was a different game especially as the old team was getting broken up with what looked like better players unfortunately they didn't seem to have that camaraderie and will to scrap like that 1999/2000 squad
But we all know we are where we are because of the 2 people who purchased our club, one for saying he knew football and the other for believing him.

It was all the duff, has beens on massive wages, that sunk city in the second premier season. When city stayed up they should have gone for young championship players, not wage stealers, that were signed. With out Richmond City would never have seen the top league.

Should be given another year and a decent increase. He is worth it. A release clause for a couple of million

I think it is safe to say his value increases with each passing game so I would offer him a sizeable increase on a new contract now - with a release clause for Harry should he want to go if we fail to get promoted. That way we either keep a happy Harry as he will have decided his own fate or we at least can command a sizeable and appropriate fee

I wasn't sure about this idea of a 25 year old inexperienced keeper commanding a fee, but then apparently Shamal George of Colchester went to Livingston for around £87,500.

He's also 25, virtually the same level of experience, virtually the same pedigree...

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shamal_George

I guess it's possible we could get £100,000 for Lewis - but I can't see us selling, and he's a Hughes man, so if the gaffer remains, I'd like to imagine Lewis will too.

But is tipped for next big move. Colchester mucked up. That doesn't automatically set the bar. If you want another scenario. Paulo Gazzanagia. Gillingham to Southampton, 3.15m in 2012

Wasn't he a lot younger than Lewis though?

That's like comparing Chelsea's purchase of Ethan Ampadu at 16 to a lad who is 21. They're always going to pay far more for youth because they can coach them for years.

If we do get a fee for Lewis it ain't gonna be £100,000. This lad is the real deal.

    So is Shamal George.

    Next stop Rangers apparently.

But more likely is he leaves on a free, as clus rarely but L2 goalkeepers. There's no point.

I do agree that with league 2 keepers you aren’t going to be looking at huge sums, at the same time like others I believe Lewis is the real deal and worth far more than such a poxy sum like £100k. He simply wouldn’t be worth selling at such a price, if the contract extension is in our favour he’s with us until 2025, I’d rather lose him on a free in 2.5 years than have such a small fee. By then he could be a league 1 keeper, or higher anyway.

On the flip side, they stop developing and hit a skill ceiling , that why they end up flooding the market with discarded young players Jon? Chelsea are masters at hoovering up kids, yet very, very very few actually make the grade?

I personally wouldn’t class Rangers , lower mid PL , over a full season .

As much as I agree with everyone that Lewis is a very good goalkeeper, he already did hit the skill ceiling in the Premier League, and was released, as you describe.

Although I think we moved for him before his release, I'm not sure
