Not necessarily his greed for money in a personal sense, but greed with ambition for the club. If the Sky Prem monies had been available like they are today , I’m sure we wouldn’t have faced the administrations we did.

It was a fantastic ride…I won’t knock the fella for his ambition for the club. Never!

He's involved with a cricket club in north Leeds where he is (or was) the club chairman. The club plays its cricket at the Richmond Arena!

He was convicted of tax fraud not long after he parted ways with us. It was nothing to do with the club but involved several millions of profit from his Ronson days which he 'forgot' to disclose to the tax authorities. The High Court judge who heard te case against him made some very disparaging comments about his behaviour and his character ... 'thoroughly dishonest' was one of them. He managed to transfer much of his wealth into his wife's name and declared himself bankrupt to avoid paying the £3m he owed HMRC. His wife had the last laugh. She left him shortly afterwards taking most of the wealth with her.

Lol. I'm sure the tax evasion thing was from his time at Scarborough and Ronseal before us, but I might be wrong

He certainly knew about cigarette lighters. He purchased Ronson didn’t he?

Yes Ronson, that was it, I think he sold it and bought City with the money, wasn't Scarborough the Ronson stadium for a while?

I said Ronseal in my earlier post, almost right lol

His ambition was for his ego, the club was a vehicle for that ambition, he loved what success brought him but I don't think he loved the club in itself

    New Rover cricket club.
    It’s the Richmond Oval!!
It’s up on the hill to your left between Lawnswood roundabout and Adel roundabout.

Indeed. He was a Leeds fan and his involvement at VP was a vehicle for his own personal and financial ambitions.

Yes at one of the creditors meeting I went to he basically said it was the ITV deal that never got off the ground that tipped the scales against us, he had us mortgaged up to the hilt and that was the straw that broke the camels back.

Allegedly there was a lot more to Jewell leaving than being told he was crap by BFG. All depends what and who you believe, but PJ was said to have had a bit of a problem keeping his underpants up, which may or may not have involved the wife of Lee Mills & a female employee of the club.

I know nothing, but it makes for better reading than throwing your knife & fork away because your boss said you should have done better.

Lets be fair. For every £ he took out of the club, the same went to Prof & Junior Rhodes. They were everybit as much to blame, in exactly the same way Rupp was as much to blame for Rahic running amok.

How very apt that a chainsmoker like BFG was in charge of a company that made disposable lighters !

The failure of the TV deal didn't help matters for us when BFG had already committed to major investment at VP before the TV deal had even been agreed. Of course it was BFG who was leading the discussions with the TV company on behalf of the EFL and knew full well how negotiations were or were not progressing! I guess he also didn't mention the £7million+ which the Richmonds and Rhodes families had taken out of the club as dividends, again before the TV deal had been negotiated and while the club wasn't making profits? Or the £250k he took out of the club each year as his management fee in addition to the dividends?

Pope is a great shot stopper but average with his feet. Lewis is probably more like Pope. Lewis distribution although not bad may prevent him reaching the top

Not forgetting the company Bentley he drove

There was a guy who sat in front of me in the Midland Stand who purchased some shares in the club and was saying he got a very good dividend pay out, he now sits near me in the Sunwin and we still have a bit of banter regarding those days.
He also got most of his 25 year season ticket money returned as he purchased it through his credit card and as we were classed as creditors after the second administration he claimed it back through a section 75.
