I'd say the Park, Gaping Goose, Dog & Gun (St Enochs) Upper George are the furthest away a steady 10/15 minute walk far more choice than Valley Parade, but as we know its pie in the sky.

If there is going to be a club “ lead” in this, the last on the list I would have is Bradford RLFC. About as professional as a Sunday pub team. I can see as follows….

The scheme goes ahead and is rented by the Council to Northern , based around an annualised average gate of circa 15,000 . ( Northern sold this pipe dream to the Council remember as part of the bid process)

Season 2
Gates , because of zero investment in playing staff ( Remember they don’t have a pot to wee in) plummet to circa 2,000 as they finish bottom of whatever league they are in . Commercial match day income falls to three packets of crisps and 15 pints in the club house.

Season 3
“We can’t afford the rent based on our income” , “we can’t invest in the playing squad because we don’t have the previously projected gate receipts” . We have a lovely ground though, but “can we have it rent free” . Have we not seen ALL this before?

We see where this is going right?

Horsfall Stadium… whilst a lovely shiny stadium not 10 min walk away sits empty and forlorn.

 

Super League is on it's arse as it stands.

The biggest gate this season came in at 19k for Wigan v Saints. The second highest was the reverse fixtures with 18k. Beyond that you get he one off Hull derby.

Figures in this application suggest Bull will have it packed out with 25k week in week out (even when there is no game on) all spending endless amounts of cash. If this were to be true private investors would be falling over themselves to build it to get a piece of the pie. They aren't.

The Bulls are in terminal decline, they are passing off the resigning of a player aged 35 as a coupe these days whilst their younger and better players are jumping ship.

If they sell 1,000 season tickets including those under the age of 16 for free they will have done well.

 

I still have nightmares about watching us at that tip after all these years.

Much better at Leeds Road and Elland Road whilst Valley Parade was been rebuilt

 

We all know the game divide but Rugby is Rugby and they will use it as levelling up excuse.

The MP’s hate football. It’s a tramps game in their mindset.

 

There seems to be a big bias towards rugby league within Bradford council

 

Just a bias to try get their land redeveloped at the cost of someone else thats all.

I’m tee total so the pre match drink thing is completely irrelevant to me -

How much would it spoil your match day experience if the nearest decent pub was 15/20 minutes walk away and would you contemplate not going?
