Really enjoyed that. A nervy first half and in truth Sweden should have been a couple of goals up before Beth Mead's sweet opener to settle the nerves.

They're very good players in their own right. I can't go along with this comparison with men's professional leagues.

 

Keeper should have had it.....

 

Enjoyed it a lot. Entertaining and freeflowing. Refreshing not to see loads of time wasting, play acting, professional diving and so on. They all just got on with it. I've no idea who is the better out of France and Germany, but I'd prefer the former in the final...just because, you know.

Also nice not to hear any gubbins about the lack of "diversity" in the team. I'm sure someone out there is trying to stir that up though. Just not needed. Especially, when I pointed out in an earlier thread, there are seven girls of diversity in that team. It's a shame that often its all about colour.

Lets hope for more of the same on Sunday!

 

Possibly. But the surprise element caught her out, so she couldn't react in time. I think that's understandable.

I thought she was more culpable for the fourth goal. She got both hands to it, but not strongly enough.

 

My remark was admittedly flippant as is a remark I saw elsewhere suggesting that if in womens football all the keepers were male then all games would finish 0-0..

 

I think there's little doubt that the keeping is one of the poorer aspects of women's football. Unless you're going to alter the size of the goals, which would cause enormous problems for the women's game, it's always going to be easier to score against keepers who are mostly 5' 9' than 6' 2'. I think we just have to accept those differences, which will inevitably result in more big scorelines than in the men's game. And maybe that's no bad thing.
To be honest, many male keepers would have struggled to stop Beth Mead's opening goal last night.

 

She got a lot of stick from Wrighty apart from the one she tried to push over the bar I'm not sure she could do a lot else with the others the one that went through her legs she couldn't see for the defender in front of her and by the time she could she didn't have enough time to react but she save a great strike second half from White ?.
Early doors Sweden could have been 2 up but as with every game of football men or women if you don't take your chances you ultimately pay the price.

 

Agree although that tip over the bar by Earps was as good as save as any male goal keeper would have made.
