He's playing every pre season game for Luton. Seems unlikely he'll be back. If I was to guess, I'd say maybe he'd go to Sheffield Wednesday or Ipswich maybe. Clubs that get a decent crowd but a league up.

Gillead should be no where near the wide positions. He's awful and completely ineffective when played in that role.

Most of the comment think it's unlikely that he'll be starting for them.

Problem for Jones is that he's in his last year or contract.

That makes it more likely might look to extend it and send him out on loan to keep him motivated. I'm not certain though any decent L1 club would be taking a chance on a player who has never started more than four consecutive matches and that was in the USA.

We do have a good chance, as we're the club where he's had his best run, i.e. he started six out of the last seven matches and the resting against Colchester was valid, given his fitness record.

Of course with him suddenly playing games, he might be now realising his undoubted potential - one ball cross field ball he controlled showed just what top drawer talent he is - and so Jones fancies him to play a big part for them this seasons.

Defensive mid is the place for him. Hughes found it. last few games.

They'd actually like him to be given a chance from what I've been told. Fans seemed to think he wanted to go more than stay although that was before pre-season.

Luckily, Hughes appears to be pragmatic and hasn't bothered to force what it ain't gonna happen.

It would have been easy for Hughes to be like 'well, we're a possession-based side and Gilliead helps us keep the ball with his safe passing', but that isn't good enough for an attacker.

Think he's very much filed as a defensive midfielder or a wing back if we ever play them.

In terms of an end product I agree. He won’t be a first XI pick this year

MARK Hughes is braced to play the long game to land Dion Pereira.

The City boss would love to bring back the Luton winger for a second loan stint at Valley Parade.

But he accepts that the Championship club are unlikely to decide on whether to let Pereira go elsewhere again until the back end of the transfer window.

Hughes said: “It’s difficult to talk about loan moves. It’s when the host club really make the decision on players that they are thinking about sending out on loan.

“Obviously, in terms of Dion, he did very well for us and they will probably want to have a look at him because of that. I think that’s what’s going to happen.”

Pereira played an hour in Luton’s 2-1 win over Gillingham in a friendly on Wednesday. He also scored in a game against NK Bravo last Friday during the Hatters' training camp in Slovenia.

Derek Adams made Pereira City’s first signing of the January window – but the 23-year-old never played under the Scot because of a calf injury he suffered in training.

He eventually got his first outing under Hughes in the win at Forest Green and went on to make a big impression in 10 appearances.

Hughes threw his hat into the ring at the end of last season to try to bring back Pereira – and the player has indicated that he would be interested.

But the season is likely to be well underway before the Bantams chief finds out if he will be given the green light.

Hughes, who yesterday hinted that City’s busy summer recruitment may not be done, added: “A lot of players who’ve been out on loan will go back to their parent club and will probably spend pre-season with them before any decision is made whether they do it again.

“I’d probably do the same in their position. You want to see how those players have progressed.

“We’ll probably have to wait a little bit longer to get decisions on the loans.

“I would imagine it would be closer to the end of the window.

“They’ll probably have four or five weeks of the pre-season period before they make any decisions.”

On the bench is his best position but if he does play then yeah, DM looks to be the place to play him.

I expect us to make a few very good loan signings with Hughes and Gents contacts.

its kind of ironic really, Adams was a shit manager for us but he was pretty good at finding players. Unless they happened to be strikers of course

Pereria is a luxury player in my opinion. yes he has silky skill , tricks and flicks etc, but he really needs to improve the end product. Can we wait for this end product to develop, is he worth waiting for? The lad can entertain, but can he graft us into those winning positions and should we wait on someone , who might not even be available?

Based on what I saw in his brief run with us, I would love to see him back. He is a talented lad who offers something completely different for league 2 level.

Different times and different level I know, but Leigh Palin springs to mind, one of my favourite players of all time, who offered something different then with his silky skills

Shame he didn't have a brain but there again, if he had, Cloughie would never have let him go.
