Just had a look at what other teams are doing. Wouldn't have been upset had we signed any other these imo.

Barrow - Tyrell Warren (RB), Billy Waters (CF)
    Crawley - Dom Telford (CF)
    Doncaster - Luke Molyneux (AM)
Leyton Orient - George Moncur (CM)
    Northampton - Ben Fox (DM)
    Rochdale - Ebanks-Landell (CB)
Stockport - Kyle Wootton (CF), Fraser Horsfall (CB)

Some good looking additions there but none that I'm disappointed we've missed out on. I'm more than happy with the lads we've signed and wouldn't swap any of the 3 big signings for names on that list.

I think Moncur and Telford would have improved our options. Rest, on paper, I think we have better or at least on par. Tyrell Warren aside....

I’ll predict now that Billy Waters will be way out of his depth at this level. Not physically strong, not particularly quick, not big, misses chances.
Warren has all the attributes but positionally gets caught out a lot - with some decent coaching he could be half decent

Are any better in equal positions where we have recruited this term , better? Not for me but to be sure it’s how we play against all of them…only then will we know?

One thing that isn’t bad for us is that I’d have considered Swindon a big promotion rival 4 weeks ago, now they look like they’re being dismantled.

True. But we might be gaining Crawley! 2 big names if this one comes off and according to the Lower League Look (who Wagmi sponsor) they have said there are more big signings to come.

Possibly but like us it’ll be a lot of new faces, where as Swindon had proved themselves last season and their team had gelled just needing one or two quality additions instead they’ve lost their manager and gone the other way. Crawley also have an untested manager which may or may not work. If you said to me would you rather have to compete with a strong Swindon that built on last season or this Crawley I’d rather be against this Crawley every time.

Ive nothing against them. Hope it works out for them. Obviously in it to make a few quid but also looks like a challenge/project for them. Ambitious.

I dont know much about Betsy but think he did pretty well at Arsenal U23s. His masters are certainly giving him the tools to succeed so far anyway. Trying.

Give me Chapman and Walker over Payne;)

But tbf their business isn’t done so we’ll see. I’m not going to make any sweeping statements as you can look foolish but Telford has to still prove himself this season as well, so he isn’t a Marc McNulty. Looked non existent against us(if he played?) and Port Vale on sky in the latter months of the season.

Swindon's model is to get exciting young players in and build. They might be building again. Payne wasn't a starter for them week in, week out. Swindon will be a promotion rival for sure.

We’ll see. They probably had more experience than us with the likes of Payne, Williams, Conroy and Hunt. I don’t know all these young players you speak of most are mid to late 20’s.

They heavily loaned from Tottenham since 2012/13 using Lee Power as the go between, but since the connection got torn apart I’m not sure where they get them from, but loans they certainly are reliant on from memory.

    Yeah, I meant instead of.

For instance, I'm happy with Walker and Chapman who play a similar position and I wouldn't swap him for either of them.

Telford? I'm kinda happy with all of our options rather than gambling on a one season wonder (so far) who would also presumably be expensive.

If we could bring them in to add to the squad as it is now, sure. I'm on board with that.

Thing with one season wonders is, they're only another season from attracting Championship interest...

Heck, in recent years, clubs have been pulling the trigger on players that have had six months of good results lol

Nearly every successful player has been at that one season wonder stage at some point. More often than not they reproduce that form to some extent after. And as goalscorers are the most prized commodity in football someone will take a chance with that potential.
