I agree but hope he can prove us wrong. His crossing needs to be better than one successful one in 10? (Estimate on my behalf)

We very nearly did. Look at Ben Garner and Swindon. However Ben Garner had Bristol Rovers first before Swindon and Rob Edwards was assistant for a while with Mark Cooper. Sometimes you get a group of players which click and a striker hit a purple patch and not because you are great as a manager. I think that might be the case with Rob Edwards

I saw a tweet - don't know if from the same person, but they went down to training yesterday and said not only were they impressed with the intensity, they were very impressed with East. They also mentioned being impressed with Odasebe as well. Hopefully a good sign, although there have been many comments over the years about certain players absolutely smashing it in training but then being poor when it really matters.

From what I have seen East is going to be the new Watt perhaps?

I wonder what MH has in store for Odasebe……? He has something up his sleeve for sure. Let’s face it, training sessions / matches are a million miles away from a blood and thunder game with perhaps 17,000 onlookers as opposed to three men and a dog?

I agree with that yes, but momentum is also key as well. If we are up there it might mean the club splashes out as well. I think where I am coming from is hitting back at the Adams thought process as only get loans for the second half of the season

I like Hendrie, no he is not a shiny new signing like a lot of the other players but he won’t let anyone down. If the team improves then he will as well. I remember one Jakes who played left back. Nobody rated him that much at the start, but progressed with us all the way to the PL. you can’t always tell.

Mark Hughes will get the best out of him.

That's a fair view but I do think you're underestimating the effect of a very good full back, even at this level.

Additionally, which other area can we realistically improve as easily as right back?

I do actually think we have improved most areas, albeit in some cases with relatively unproven potential. Let's see if we have any money left. If not I'm not worried about our RB letting us down

Sorry this was supposed to be in reply to @NorthernMonkey@NorthernMonkey above

Hendrie isn’t good enough defensively IMO. His best attribute is his crossing. I expect a new RB to come in. I think there could still be three or four signings between now and the end of August but I think that there’ll be departures first both permanently and on loan.

Absolutely, a good full back is like having another wing outlet when going forward. Defending comes with the territory, but being an extra man going forward , with pace and ability to cross, can turn draws into wins and so on. It’s a must for me if we want to achieve anything.

His crossing is more bad than good by about 9-1, if last season is anything to go by? He’s good back up, not knocking him for that. but we DO need better if we want to reach our expectations. Good managers spot these weaknesses and will punish us as a result.

Watt is a decent player but we need better from our midfield this season.

I’d have agreed with you about the crossing upto the Tranmere game then after the game Hughes said the crossing needed to improve, from then on Hendrie was exerlent and finished the season really strongly

Looks like Crawley are about to announce a new player. Rumour mill strongly suggesting Jack Payne. Another good signing for them.
