Summer 2022 - Transfer Talk

Our youth team has just absolutely smashed their league yet MH didn't see fit to give any of them even a minute of first team football so I'm not sure I'm seeing much difference in the comparison.

 

I'll be honest with you I watched the playoff final I wasn't that impressed with him, there again nobody impressed me bar James Wilson.

 

Wilson was the only player on that pitch imo who looked like he could cut it higher up, some may have had an off day but the standard was awful. It’ll be same next year though so there’s no excuses not to be always pushing for promotion from this league, the likes of Northampton push for promotion every time they come down so there’s no excuse for Bradford City not to.

 

We don’t know that he wasn’t noticed by our management and scouting team. Maybe they looked and decided that he wasn’t for us?

The remaining is largely irrelevant. I scored for fun in senior school football and indeed had trials for City. Did it make me a footballer….. No..

 

He was available last summer. Outrage on here when his name was suggested!!!

More goals than Cook and promoted with Port Vale. A few on here wrong again....

 

As others said, not that many people impressed during the L2 final. Mentioning strikers in the Vale squad, Ryan Edmondson is set to be released by Leeds in the coming days.

Didn't really break into the Vale team, 19 apps, 9 starts and 3 goals. Same story for all his loan spells really. Has been linked to us a few times for a move over the last couple of seasons.

 

What game were you watching? Port Vale had 4-5 excellent performers on the day… the standout two being Mal Benning at left back and the young central midfielder Jake Taylor.
I also thought Connor Hall (I wanted us to sign him) was excellent and Vale fans are calling him their best ever Jan business. Most of that Vale team and Mansfield to be honest would have walked into our team this season.

Also… noticed this on Twitter this morning. No idea if it’s true but interesting all the same.

 

Think it was confirmed by someone who sounds like from the tweets they knew someone involved around this lad, as the deals been in place since beginning of May. Someone else commented on a twitter post around him saying Bashir has been his school bully throughout.

Shed tonne of add ons included most likely. Didn't we do a similar deal with Leeds over a keeper in the summer? Certainly did with that lad who went to Everton as a teen from us about 10 years back for a very similar figure? Although in football terms, a 250K teen prospect deal 10 years back would be a bit higher these days.

 

T&A confirming the deal a few minutes back. Noticed Paul Jewells son is head of youth recruitment at Brighton.

 

If we are getting 250k for a player we should invest into a decent striker. Wont be many Wykes available for £250k again mind...

 

Nails the idea that the club can’t find/ partially develop young footballers. What it does emphasise is we cannot afford to develop them to OUR first team.

I’m not too worried as it inadvertently supports the squad / club especially if the club have structured the deal to provide future income. Good for the lad, good for the club.

This might explain the claims that this season's budget will be bigger than last. They knew they had £250k in the back pocket.

 

Plus the keeper who went to Leeds, shame our first team aren’t as valuable as the kids.

 

I doubt City will be getting £250k up front. It will be dependent on progress.

 

I think the twitter post suggested £250k + add on's. Whether we get the £250k all in one go is anyone's guess.

 

Hopefully one day soon, we might actually get to see some of these kids come through and be club legend's
I understand the need to raise the cash at present but it is frustrating .
Good look to him and Daryl Ombang who was the keeper that joined Leeds in a similar deal last year. Lets hope they bring in as much as Ollie did, could be great for the club.

 

Parker saying its a similar deal to McBurnie which was £250k upfront. Its chicken feed to Brighton.

 

I know, our chickens cost a fortune to feed. Its cheaper to buy half a dozen eggs from the supermarket.
