Not true. Sparks said it’s bigger in the interview.

Well I am guessing Rupp is underwriting regardless of season ticket sales. I haven’t heard how many we have sold so far.

Did Ryan actually say that? I don't remember that specifically. He did say we had the 5th largest budget last season and this season's budget is higher than last season.

That's exactly my point. Rupp must be underwriting some or how would they know it's bigger?

Season sales are up compared to this time last year, and of the 6,000 sold so far nearly a 1,000 are NEW season holders. It’s therefore looking promising, without Rupp input , but clearly they are committed to spending higher.

He did sign on the deadline day, so perhaps it was a case of taking the only offer going? Something perhaps better than nothing, especially if you have bills to pay.

No. You're jumping to conclusions. He didn't say that.

He said "it will deliver a substantial six figure sum to the bottom line." END

He didn't mention recruitment. It could be used for lots of reasons.

Okie dokie , my error sorry., Two subjects one kitty. The bottom line is more £’s turnover.
    How it’s spent/ profited/pocketed is another debate..

    Couple of things to add.

Firstly inflation has meant that costs are higher. Even a 1% increase, is far less than the general rise.

If other clubs put a higher percentage of money into their budgets, then irrespective of our increase, we could slip down the order.

Absolutely. However their inflationary pressures will also increase exponentially, thus more pressure on marketing teams. As daft as it sounds to some…don’t play on winter nights, unless one has a generator to power the floodlights. That’s going to cost megabucks?

I don’t know the costings, but I’ve still never understood why we have Tuesday night games mid winter I can’t think of anything less appealing tbh. We usually schedule in 6 Tuesday night games a season, it doesn’t always work work like that with postponements etc. but they could at least put the original 6 into 3 before the clocks go back and 3 after. I know there’s the odd cup game but it’s far from impossible. Not only is it the electricity costs but you get far less pay on the day punters on a cold Tuesday night as well, I’ve been there when it’s felt like there were about 10,000 there when we’ve been in the playoffs and far less when doing poor.

I’ve said this before but I’d move the group stage Micky mouse trophy games to pre season as they do in Scotland, one or two of them are played before the clocks go back so that’s potentially 2 slots there. You’re more likely to get more pay on the day customers late September than early December imo which means more money to cover costs. Also I think our last Tuesday game was late March early April, a fair few light and warmer Tuesday nights not used, again it’s just about sensible planning by the football league, something I’m not sure they are capable of. One final thing to reduce Tuesdays is do what we’ve done twice in the last 10 years, have the first round of the league cup the Saturday before the start of the season, can’t this year due to the early start but no reason it couldn’t be a regular feature going forward, this would probably draw a bigger crowd that the first round on a Tuesday and it frees another early season Tuesday up to get a league game out of the way.

Perhaps not as much as you think for the floodlights. Came over this detail which is some indication, ‘There are approximately 218 floodlights in the stadium each using 2000 watts. In total they produce 436,000 watts then they are all on - roughly the amount produced by 130 kettles being on at the same time!’ Now that was the Etihad in 2008. I would think that City will have fewer floodlights compared to Manchester City. However there will be heating costs and other electricity costs (concourse/toilets/steps/external lights) to factor in.

Whatever we think of Robinson that can't be right. A guy driving a forklift truck in a warehouse can earn more than that. On top of that he would probably earn more playing semi/pro football with a job on top of that.

I would assume that their would be a significant number of ‘add on’s, bonuses e.g. appearance money/win/payment/goal bonus/assist bonus/travel bonus/appearances over a season/club position in the league. These incentives could add up to a sizeable additional income.

We are definitely a big club at least in the bottom two divisions. There's Sheffield Wednesday Derby County and Ipswich Town but that's it as Sunderland have finally gone up. People think it's because of the cheap season tickets but our away following says otherwise. Second best only behind Bristol rovers in a rubbish season.
