Isn't that because they've stopped reporting at all over a weekend?

Yes it was for Saturday, Sunday and Monday’s figures. When decided by 3 nowhere near the highest. Sometimes they don’t even bother midweek now, it’s clear case numbers are irrelevant only hospital cases matter.

That's for 3 days. No worries testing stops in 10 days. Those cases will soon fall.

yep I know that is why I stated exactly what it was. It is still substantially up from last weekend. But as we have all said for ages it is the hospitalisation and deaths that really matter.

Less and less people are giving a flying f*ck about Covid. Even the MSM have had enough.

Live with it and carry on

It's not really the highest ever in that case though surely. I'd have thought there would be 3 consecutive days previously where they were higher?

It is the highest ever number of cases by date reported

Okay. But the context behind that isn't that its because the infection has increased to the highest ever level.

It's just because they've changed the reporting methods. I thought that might have been an important caveat?

hardly any of the numbers are comparable due to the constant changes of reporting, testing etc

The current figures contain reinfections, previous data didn't so like for like was always going to be incorrect going forward.

As for hospitalisations they are still showing over 50% of people going to hospital just happen to have Covid, it is not the reason they are there. With Delta this figure was around 20%. Scotland don't actually detail this they just push the highest figure to appease the mask mandate.

Testing will soon drop off a cliff.

The people in ICU are still under 300 UK wide. You have to go back to June last year to see similar figures.

It is also over 12 weeks since the major vaccine booster push which no doubt increased resistance, but now that is waning. A 4th booster is being pushed out to the over 65s and vulnerable which is fine as they may need it, I at this stage don't feel I need constant boosters, if I get it again I get it, it's a cold to me, it was before I was vaccinated when it wasn't diet covid as it is now.

Testing will soon drop off a cliff as it is stopping for most of the population.

I think the booster is just over 75s, care home residents and those that are immunosuppressed this time

The media need a good scare story to either sell papers or get internet clicks, now a new bigger and scarier story has come along for them they have pushed this away into the abyss Covid isn’t needed for them anymore.

Absolutely. Personally I learned a lot about how the mainstream media works during the pandemic. Untrustworthy and sensationalist and that’s an understatement.

Push the mask mandate up here? Over the whole thing, the government have used the lowest figures they can possibly get away with to try and make out they have performed better over the whole covid period, than what they actually have. If the mandate up here is still to be cautious, I’m happy with that. If you think the easing of restrictions is not purely for the economy and big business, then fair enough. It’s great we are moving in the right direction, don’t get me wrong, but I am not fussed that Scotland is handling it in a different way, and that’s from someone who has very little time for Nicola Sturgeon.

i’m still waiting for The Great Reset etc etc btw, from the nefarious fabrication of the whole covid thing….

Each government has used which ever figures it has to push in the direction they want to go. In Scotland the hospital figures have never been split down like they have in England to show who is actually in hospital with covid and who just happens to have Covid in hospital. Due to this high figure are pushed out to support the SNPs cautious approach even though over Christmas it was proven to be wrong (Johnson didn't get it right either, he was marched down that route because he was in political trouble, there was no decision making there that wasn't looking after No1) and now when the rates in Scotland dwarf those in the rest of the UK even though masks are inforce. The second reason is it is a smokescreen to high behind woeful devolved running of the NHS as it's an easy excuse, when any investigation of the data shows the NHS in Scotland (and in other places) were in serious trouble prior to Covid.

Never known so many people in bed with covid and some struggling, I think the government is trying to ignore the increased spread
