I posted a comment with regards Chelsea when the invasion of Ukraine started.

Personally, I feel that should be changed. They should make it that the away team can sell the tickets but have the FA handle the sales and have the money from them go into some development fund to help the rest of football that's actually been harmed by Romans blood money.

And maybe they should also be allowed to sell away tickets as well seeing as in the PL the home team gets that money. For the FA Cup where the away team gets half the gate receipts have Chelseas cut again goto into an FA fund

It amazes me when I keep seeing Chelsea fans complain and say Roman is a nice guy.

You mean the nice guy who colluded to steal energy rights from the Russian people for peanuts that has made him and his cronies billions while leaving the Russian economy in the toilet

You mean the nice guy who was the one who was hands-on in picking Putin and then when Putin was coming to the end of his 2 term maximum was tasked with Putin to find the successor while helping Putin become prime minister. A successor who almost as soon as he got in passed a law that did a power shift so that the Prime Minister got almost all the president's powers which then allowed the presidential 2 term limit to be removed. Then towards the end of boths terms they switched power back putting Putin in the almost dictator-like position he is in where he can basically do what he likes

You mean the nice guy who the US intelligence agencies in 2019 named him as someone acts as the moneyman for Putins dirty cash and helps hide and wash it.

Yeah such a nice guy that Roman. Next, we will have Newcastle fans piping up calling their owner, a guy who has his secret service kidnap, murder and dismember a journalist who was critical of him as a great guy.

Not to mention his statement about selling the club was such a farce, trying to lead people down the path of 'I'm a good guy, don't sanction me' when the reality his statement was massively ambiguous.

You saw the Chelsea fans and others celebrating him saying 'I will not be asking for any loans to be repaid' saying he was writing off that debt but that line doesn't actually say that. It says he isn't calling the loan in. He could have easily said he was writing the loan off if that's what he really meant but he doesn't so there is a decent chance he was planning to keep the loan in place and collect his interest on it (Would also track with how in less than 6 months his asking price has dropped by a billion)

Then there is the "I have instructed my team to set up a charitable foundation where all net proceeds from the sale will be donated. The foundation will be for the benefit of all victims of the war in Ukraine"

Let's break that apart. Charitable foundations are required to give some of their money away to the cause but not all, in fact, they only have to give 5%. And he doesn't say the money is going to Ukraine but victims of the war. Who you deem victims depends on your POV, Putin certainly won't see the Ukrainians as Victims, the victims in his eyes are the Russians and most likely even him personally. Again Roman could have with ease said it was going to Ukraine but he doesn't. Clearly some if not all is going to Russia otherwise he wouldn't have used such ambiguous wording. I wouldn't actually be surprised if he was even counting him and his cronies who sanctions are losing them a lot of assets and income as victims.

Finally, even if he was giving 100% of the money the foundation gets to Ukraine the net proceeds line is suspect. What does he mean by net proceeds? It could mean anything, it could actually mean Sale Price - Initial Purchase Price - Additional personal investment - Costs of sale which with the £2bn price being floated would leave under 100mill with him pocketing the rest. And if then only 5% went to the foundation that would be just 5million from a 2bn sale and then at best it gets split between Ukraine and Russia

He is just a Smarmy git, just trying to weasel his way out of things just like he tried earlier by handing it over to the Chelsea Foundation to hide it from any sanctions. Well done on those on the trust's board for not being bullied into helping him do that

In theory that does seem sensible but most of their access to banking services will have been withdrawn. I'd imagine that the very limited number of transactions that they are allowed to make (wages, travel etc) will require a certain degree of checking and form filling before they are allowed to be processed which wouldn't be feasible when dealing with thousands of individual ticket sales not to mention payments to Visa/Mastercard for card transactions and paying for postage costs etc.

From a "sanctions" perspective it should be OK for Chelsea fans to buy away tickets direct from the home club but I don't know if there are any additional PL rules which would prevent this.

Can not see them giving the tickets away for away fans to go to the Bridge as it would then cost them to steward it etc

My point wasn't so much that Chelsea would sell the tickets but the FA would take over the handling of away ticket sales with the money going into a fund to help the wider football community

When stadiums were running at a reduced capacity due to covid most clubs were saying that the cost difference between running at full capacity and reduced capacity was fairly small so I'm not sure the 3000 away tickets would make a massive difference even if they were given away for free

it would be the difference between having no stewards/staff in that area or having them. When they are restricted to spending and could
Be short of cash that will be a difference.

    Even more woes.

Barclay’s have frozen their UK bank account and withdrawn any credit facilities along with access to card use for anyone using transactional payments at the club as of Friday 11/03.

Not sure how they would function for any length of time?

It's OK the fantastic British Government have thrown them a lifeline by allowing the sale of Chelsea FC to go ahead before Abramovitch is sanctioned.

Everything this Government has done was deliberately designed to “ protect” their paymasters whilst gaslighting the public so they could claim they were being tough! . The Russians got their payback for propping up the Conservative Party, by allowing them a month to move their money to third world offshore sites.
