If you actually read it the deals even worse for Abramovich than what he was trying to do though. What he was trying to do was go 'I won't receive any money, it's all going to a foundation I'm setting up (which I only have to donate 5% of the money the foundation gets) but I will keep the loans and take my interest payments'. What the deal is to allow the sale to go ahead is The Raine Group can continue to try and sell the club but Roman gets no say in the process and will get none of the money (That will be held by the government until they decide what to do with it) and that Roman has to write off the loans completely. He is basically giving up an asset worth £2-3billion and writing off £1.5bn in loans and getting nothing for it.

Hopefully the Gov splits the money (and the money from the rest of his seized assets) into 3. Some to go directly to Ukraine to help rebuild, some to go and help Ukrainian refugees that come to the UK (perhaps used to renovate some of the many empty houses/buildings in the country in the country where we can house them for as long as needed) and then some to the lower leagues that Romans blood money did without doubt damage

Again though I don't think it's that simple. A lot of Stewards at Chelsea's level are actual staff members on the payroll, not freelancers and Chelsea are able to pay those. Also some of the requirements set down by the police to allow top-level events to go on isn't just to have a certain number stewards per people in the stadium but also a certain amount of stewards per total seats so stewards for empty seats are still required to be paid, maybe a little down on what they need if the seats are filled but its not as big a saving as people think as a number of clubs mentioned when they complained about limited capacity due to covid as the costs remained similar but the income was down.

And you can again always let the away team sell the away tickets or the FA with the extra stewarding costs being taken out of that while and the rest going into a fund to help football in general. Or just sell them for a nominal fee. Stewards aren't the best paid, I saw an AMA on reddit from a steward at a PL club who said they get £50 (plus the perk of getting to watch the match plus some free refreshments). Sell them at a nominal fee of say £2 and even if you need 1 steward per 100 people you quickly cover the costs to allow away fans.

Or perhaps force Chelsea to play at a neutral ground and Chelsea then have no costs to put the match on but also get none of the income then we can have a home and away fans

I see that they have increased the spending limit for home matches to £900k

    Seriously????!!!!
A banner supporting Abramovitch on Saturday with everything currently going on. Are you completely insensitive, completely ignorant, or a Putin apologist?

Chelsea have asked the FA to play their FA Cup tie with Boro behind closed doors because they believe it's the 'fairest way'. How can they play that card? They've been bank rolled by a dodgy Russian for years which has made them one of the best teams in the country and they are talking about 'fairness'?

Hopefully the FA will tell them where to stick their request.

Why can't either the FA or Boro sell the tickets to Chelsea fans?

I agree the FA should tell them where to go, however stuff like this doesn't help. What is there to discuss?
    20220315_134356.jpg

They will back themselves into a corner if they agree. Say they agree and play this behind closed doors, Chelsea win and make the semi final, the precedent has been set and surely the game at Wembley is then behind closed doors, then possibly the final. There is only one action to take and that's decline this shithousing.

I see that following discussions with the FA, Chelsea have agreed to withdraw their request to play behind closed doors in Middlesbrough. Maybe someone pointed out that they'd probably end up playing in an empty Stamford Bridge for the remainder of the season if they set that precendent?

They still see rhemselves as the victims in all this, and their fans act like morons by putting up banners and singing about the reason they are in these sanctions, Roman.

The EU have now issued sanctions on Roman and Chelsea.

Abramovich is the best owner they’ve ever had. How can he be to blame for the current conflicts? Laughable

Not at all. It’s fascist to persecute everybody from a particular nation, just for being a particular nationality. Have some consideration for the millions of innocent Russian folk, and stop being brainwashed by our biased media.

He's part of Putin's oligarch hierarchy. His obscene wealth was amassed from rigged auctions of previously state-owned resources sanctioned by Putin. He may not be directly responsible for the current military strategy in Ukraine but he's up to his neck in cahoots with Putin's dictatorial regime and part of the infrastructure that keeps him in power.
Chelsea's rise to global football success has been funded by Abramovitch's corrupt billions stolen from the Russian people. Continuing to support him now, when the world is finally waking up to the role of bent oligarchs like Abramovitch in maintaining Putin's power base, is disgraceful.
Also, Abramovitch's gargantuan spending power is one of the major reasons for the ridiculous upwards spiral of transfer fees which price out less wealthy clubs and entrench the position of a handful of clubs at the top. His role in football has been deeply divisive and toxic and it's a bloody good job that he's gone.

But Abramovitch is the complete opposite of 'innocent Russian folk'. He's a crook who swindled his way to mega-wealth and a close associate of Putin.

Middlesbrough are selling the remaining tickets to their own fans. Quite rightly too.

Do you close your eyes every time something bad happens? He is an international criminal of the first order.

Open you eyes, look around and see that Abramovich's wealth is based on his association with Putin.

He’s not an international criminal :joy:

Why did nobody bat an eyelid to his ownership prior to the Ukraine war then?

So it’s ok to display Roman flags and for him to be instated as owner as long as the country he is from aren’t at war with anyone? It’s strange logic, and one that absolutely screams mainstream media brainwashing.
