All avoidable had the west and NATO seen sense and agreed no membership of NATO for Ukraine, It has now given carte blanche to Putin to get Ukraine back in the fold and our foolish leaders bring us closer to a war we cannot win,

Yes because it was the right thing to do, There was no way Russia was going to accept NATO forces possibly nuclear armed based in the Ukraine on its border, There was a deal to be done but the USA and UK are belligerent on Russia even sending arms and training troops, Putin just saw that as escalation that if he could not get any agreement he might as well go ahead with his own solution

 

China and the invasion of Taiwan will be next, I said earlier I could see Putins point with regards NATO countries sitting on Russia borders with weapons aimed at Russia.

Think I read yesterday that the percentage of Russian reserves held in USD had been reduced from, don't quote me, something like 30% to 3%. It also said they were lifting their restrictions on crypt-currencies

Putin knows he can do whatever he wants. This will be just the start. What started out 2 years as the changing face of the world order is just going to ramp up and up. The West is done. The cost of living is going to spiral.

Whether we get dragged into conflict or not, shits going to get very, very real for people.

 

China is the elephant in the room, the west can all gather round and impose sanctions all they want, however if China refuses or even worse sees what Russia is doing and thinks lets do that ourselves and take Tiawan then the trade with China and access to the markets through there would make many of the sanctions useless.

There is also the stockpile that Russia has built up which means sanctions won't bite for years to come. Thatcher did it with the miners, he saw them strike when she had huge stockpiles of coal so the strike was effectively useless as it caused no damage as part of the leverage they used.
